Plot where the proposed Sun Hung Kai towers will stand.
As was originally planned, two skyscrapers would be built here. Now it's said the twins will have to be changed to three shorter buildings, so they will not block the view of the landmark building of Jinmao, as is seen from across the river.
Bad news for Shanghai skyscraper lovers, and good news for those who think of Shanghai's cityscape as a whole.
The news is yet to be confirmed.

On the Sun Hung Kai website, the rendering is the original one:

How much floorspace is WFC going to have? Because if it just rises smoothly from this enormous base, it's going to have a huge amount of space. That is unless these first few floors are just a podium and the tower will just be the circular core area in the middle.

Good fast construction means that we will be able to visit sooner rather than later!

492m sounds about right, either way itll be near that value, wouldnt expect it to add another 100m or so at the last minute though

Is that the base only because if that is so, the tower (and i may be absolutely wrong) will be skinny. please correct me if i'm wrong

^Only time will tell, but right now it looks to be just a tad smaller than the base of Jin Mao. It sure is a great time to be a skyscraper fan, though.

Taipei 101 is 508m tall and it is in TAIWAN. Does anybody here feel that the Chinese gov't will complete the nation's signature tallest building to be shorter than what they have in Taiwan by only 16m? I'm waiting for higher than 508m even if they stick a spire(s) of sorts.

This building is my long awaited one. I love the design so much.

Very exciting.
