Very exciting.
Mori proposed an increase to 510m, but I believe the City of Shanghai rejected the proposal, citing fear of further delays. SWFC will clinch the title for tallest inhabitable space, while T101 retains the spire record, much as Sears was to Petronas. Therefore, the Commies can boast about WTB all they want, and would not be outright incorrect... at least until Burj Dubai finishes.

What we see here (a part rised above ground) is just the core...not the entire base.

^this has a circular base, and a rectangular core, the buildings first footprint will fully will the circle, and the circle is definately bigger than the base of jin mao

the podium does NOT have to be in that circle. The tower's footprint has to.
