Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) received on the June18th, 2014 a new high-speed train set: EКr1 (produced by Ukrainian company KVSZ, Kremenchuk, Poltava region). At the same day a new commuter diesel train set was received as well.

Top speed - 200 km/h, service speed - 160 km/h
Length - 230 m
Electric systems used: 25 kV 50 Hz AC and 3 kV DC
Total number of passengers: 612 (128 first class, 372 second class and 112 third class)
9 carriages (2 first class, 8 second class and 1 third class)
Dimensions (meters): length 26,7, width 3,4 and height 4,4

That's not average, that's top service speed, because currently, there is no railways cleared for 161+ in Ukraine.
Average speed for Kyiv-Lviv service is roughly 116 km/h.

Wow, is that second class? Seems very spacious. Interesting they've chosen a 2+2 configuration, considering the Russian gauge easily accepts 3+2.

I think it's first class. Second one is 3+2.

Ah, thanks. That clears some up. I was actually deceived by the blue colour of the seats, since in the Netherlands (and Germany) bright blue seats are always second class.

Wow, nice catch, all pantographs lowered. BTW, I though they only cut off power when going through phase break, without lowering pantos.

To be exact - failure of power convertors for passenger utilities (lighting, a/c, etc). Train returned under its own traction to maintaince facility.

If Ukraine really want alternatives to Russia, they should build a High Speed Rail Warsaw - Lviv - Kyiv!!! They should do it fast!!! It might turn Ukraine to the West.

I suppose, the problem lies in the fact, that by 1520 standards high speed train is a train with Vmax=>160 and Vavg=>90, while by modern European definition HSR is Vmax>200 for exsiting lines and Vmax=>250 for new lines.
