The other crane is now gone and various cladding has continued.

The temporary buildings on the site of the second taller tower are nearly complete. Prudential was planning to build the second tower after filling the first, and apparantly they will have already filled it plus 160,000 square feet being kept in the Gateway Center around Newark Penn Station where they are currently leasing 500,000 square feet until the new building is completed. The second tower may happen a lot sooner!

This will be completed in the Summer 2015, and could easily do it, if interior work does not take a long time.

This is almost externally complete. Final details are being added while interior work is underway.

My college class and I met with Reuben Teague from Prudential's Impact Investments to discuss how they are helping Newark. According to him, this tower will be done in the summer, and will be a few months behind due to last years horrendous winter that brought several months of constant snow storms. Prudential has not given up on the second tower, but they want to complete and occupy the first one before working on the new one. The city has had some problems with the traffic issues caused by the tower's construction as there have been several times when Broad Street and Halsey Street were completely closed, which has caused problems for local business owners. They want to finish the new tower to prove its benefits to the city and nearby businesses before they start on the new one and disrupt the businesses again. There are still a significant number of employees in the Gateway Center (the first tower was supposed to hold everyone from Gateway since they wanted to end their lease completely in the outdated buildings) so there is demand for at least partial usage by Prudential as they continue to expand and grow.

That meeting was on the 15th floor of the old headquarters, which will remain completely in use, so I could not pass up the opportunity. Take note of the mounting location for one of the Prudential logo signs.

Great inside info towerpower. I work in Downtown Newark. Very cool seeing the new buildings from a different angle.
