I am not quite sure, but Frederick the Great for instance detested Königsberg which would be too hot in summer and too cold in winter

Sounds like New Jersey. Lots of hungry mosquitoes in NJ too.

But in the spring and fall you won't find more agreeable weather anywhere and for three months out of the year the ocean off of NJ is simply fabulous for swimming.

I remember talking to an old German guy on the beach one day who told me that the Southern New Jersey coastal region reminded him very much of his childhood in East Prussia.

Nice palaces. A lot of them need a urgent reconstruction/renovation.

- Yeah you also forgot to mention that historically Western and Northern Poland was part of Germany and Eastern part of Western Ukraine Galician kingdom. Wait, perhaps we are talking about 18 C, when Poland belonged under Prusian, Russia and Austria? I don't understand why poles get so upset if we are just talking about historical facts

- I agree, would be great if everyone kept the politics out of SSC. More photos of beautiful East Prussia:

And Danzig/Gdansk in 1945...

More photos (in colour): http://sabaoth.infoserve.pl/danzig-o...lor/1946e.html

Anyway, Danzig/Gdansk was never part of East Prussia.
http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpo...&postcount=610

Since 1945, only around 9% of all historic monuments, townhouses, granaries, etc. have been reconstructed in Gdansk and all churches, museums, theatres, art galleries, cultural attractions are really poorly furnished when compared to the ones in Vilnius, Lviv or Krakow.
Please click on the following links to see interiors of churches in Krakow (first few photos) and Gdansk - http://translate.google.com/translat...postcount%3D22 or theatres - http://translate.google.com/translat...postcount%3D35.
Of course, lack of reconstructions is due to insufficient funds.
