My own photos
Long paths through trees and landscape and the flat plains and clear northern sky - again, I understand why people would love this land.

I saw that in Poland and in Russia part most of current streets names have nothing simmilar with this land.

Marienburg castle in former East Prussia had long time been the headquarters of the Teutonic Knights.

Regarding Poland, I disagree. Virtually every Masurian/Warmian city has got people from local pantheon: Mrongowiusz, Kętrzyński, Gizewiusz, Herder, Knosała, Pieniężny, etc. And the list is growing.

There is another feature though: most of today's street names have nothing to do with their pre-war names.

It is quite similar to the upper Midwest of the USA. Very likely the reason why the Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan, Iowa area was largely settled by Germans, particularly eastern Germans.

What so many folks who prefer the grandeur of mountain ranges and oceans don't seem to appreciate is the sense of sky that the lake and prairie and hardwood forest areas provide.

Are these authentic pre-war German villas or new ones build in traditional style?

I like the paths and paved or cobbled roads that allow for walking and bicycling for miles. That is something I appreciate about Germany now. Walkers do not have to battle with auto traffic and also do not have to hike - walking is incorporated into daily life. But this flat setting is quite different from the more thickly settled and hilly areas of Hamburg where I stay with friends. The over-arching trees are another aspect I like.

it would be hard to call this as traditional style. Few of them are original, other kitsch
