Where did I write such a thing?
I'm not denying that over centuries majority of Danzg/Gdansk was German-speaking. Even in Krakow in Middle Ages most of the citizens spoke German. And does it mean that Krakow was a German city? Does it mean that St. Mary's Basilica in Krakow, Royal Chapel in Danzig/Gdansk, Royal House in Elbing/Elblag are not Polish cultural heritage?

How about only having pictures?

Jeez, I like Poland and poles, but have yet to encountered a nationalist people that is more touchy than poles.
I don't know if it's a result of being conquered and divided so many times but you guys seriously need to relax. You have a beautiful country, stop acting like everyone's out to get you!

The plans are really awesome in my point of view. They also have plans to rebuild the Neue Synagoge at the opposite of the Dom. They already installed a plaquete which is already vandalized by some neo-Nazi's....

Now:
Bingo! There is such a plan. The cornerstone of this church was laid on 2012 August 1st. Unfortunately, it is uncertain when we will see actual works as there are only talks from where to get money on this.

Support by local government, inhabitants of Klaipeda, funds and organisations.

But still, this will give Klaipeda a whole new skyline with the church tower back on it's place.

My opinion changed since I saw what kind of 'reconstruction' they want to do.....

Controversy about the former Stadtkirche of Klaipeda
'What for Dresden the Frauenkirche is, is for the Lithuanian city of Klaipeda the Johanniskirche. The city's administration with the German name Memel wants the Protestant community to rebuild the in WW2 destroyed church. The Johanniskirche is great importance in the historical skyline. said the Department of Culture - and forbade the Protestants to build on the plot a smaller, modern building. The Protestant community representatives described the ban as "cynical decision that the right to religious freedom" violated. The reconstruction of the old building exceeded the financial capabilities of a small faith community.'

To be honestly, I don't get it anymore. Are they going to make an original reconstruction of the old Johanniskirche or are they going to build a newly building like on the picture?

As I know plans are now to rebuild a "hybrid": this new church with rebuilt tower of the old one. Weird indeed...

WTF!!

"Cynical decision" my ass.

The only cynical decision made here was by the cretins who propose to build that piece of shit.

Let us hope that the local Department of Culture hangs tough and sticks with it's ruling.

So the bell tower will be in original form, inclusife spire, ornaments etc. instead of this newly tower with glass roof?

Pray for that one. If they're going to rebuild only the bell tower with that 'hybrid' church like Index_LT said, it still would be crap but the tower would make it 'allright'.

When they're going to build the new church, I hope the community has to build it of their own money without help of the local government, funds or other organisations.

Even if so, the clown church would best be built elsewhere. In the suburbs perhaps.

They should preserve the original location for a proper reconstruction at some later date.

Sounds like a great idea. And still, even if they're going to build that, the church wouldn't fit in the historical area around it, full of timberframed houses and other great architecture.

Yes, it will be original. Initially, they were trying to build this crap in the very heart of Klaipėda, but the specialists of the heritage protection put a ban on this "genius" plan and ordered them to rebuild the original church.
The community said it is too small and weak, then they said it could be smaller church, but with the original tower.

The new tower should be identical to that one on the picture.

But the religion community insists on building this part smaller.

They also claim, that they do not have money to recreate the original interior and are willing to build the modern one.
