Some say Charleroi itself is an eyesore
Personally, I find the elliptic tower more interesting than most of the glass towers built in Brussels recently, or even than these new twin towers in Gent. We will see once it's completed.

The Blue Tower is now completed in Charleroi (Jean Nouvel - 75m)

The police moved in one month ago, there is still some work on the neighboring low rise buildings.

The Manhattan Center is a complex consisting of one office wing and two hotel wings (a Sheraton and a Thon) located next to Place Rogier.

The Sheraton Hotel was forced to close in December of 2016 due to the bankruptcy of its operating company, SBH SPRL. According to a report by Bruzz.be that was posted on the Manhattan Center's thread at the local Belgium forum, a complete strip and rebuild of the Sheraton wing is being considered, or maybe just a remodel of the wing. The number of hotel rooms may be reduced from 511 to 250, with apartments or an apart-hotel filling half of the space. Also, at the website for Jaspers-Eyers Architects, there is a concept for the transformation of the Manhattan Center's office wing (or probably of the entire complex?).
