MISC | High Speed Rail Videos From A Passenger's View

Hi Guys,

This is my first post and couldn't find another thread like this so I hope I'm doing this right and not annoying anyone.

I've travelled quite a lot on TGV high speed trains recently and decided to record small segments of footage at 300 km/h+ to try and capture the wonderful speed and thrill.

Please post your favourite video's of high speed trains at 300 km/h+, specifically from a passenger's view as I believe it highlights the true sensation of speed compared to a cab ride.

Here are some vids I shot recently:

Lol trainrover, it's not hard to find the type of video's I requested! Haha...yeah I muted this vid straight away!!!

On youtube, just simply type in 'TGV train ride' or 'Shinkansen' or 'Thalys 300 km/h' for example

Woah Cuthbert80, you didn't warn about the terrible music edited over the sound of the train! As a recommendation to all railway video posters, it is worth remembering that most railfans want to hear the train and not your music, or, like me, are already listening to music that has been selected by ourselves to match our mood.

Haha, fair enough makita09. I know not everyone will like my musical tastes but hey.....to each there own.

I'm also aware that most railfan's wanna hear the sound of the train but for the life of me.......I just can't put video's up on youtube with just the sound of the train for the whole duration of the vids if it has my name on it lol.......which is why, as a compromise, I'll put a bit of the train sounds at the beginning & end to, ermmm, compliment my, errrrr, questionable song choices lol
BTW, nice vids you posted

Here's my Shinkansen video from Tokyo to Nagoya. Around 20 minutes long. Once the speed picks up the water will leave the window.

Here is a brief one I took, it was sunny

I wonder why the launcher chose to label this service Super Express when it clearly makes two scheduled stops in Greater Tokyo.

"Super Express" is just a literal translation of 超特急, which is sometimes used both formally and informally as a reference to the Shinkansen.

Anyways, I don't think stopping twice in Greater Tōkyō automatically makes it not an express. Would you prefer a substantial number of passengers go out of their way to Tōkyō Station just to take a Nozomi (in which case, a flight out of Haneda might begin to seem more attractive)?

I see where you're coming from. I mean, why would somebody have to go all the way to the city center only to be leaving the city again, although are non-stop city center to city center services provided?

No all, all trains have 3 stops in greater Tokyo: Tokyo Station - Shinagawa - Shin-Yokohama. From there it's non stop to Nagoya, Kyoto and Osaka with the Nozomi services. The Hikari services make 4 extra stops and the Kodama services are the all stop services. All these trains are called Super Express.

On the Tohoku Shinkansen to Sendai in the north of Japan there are also 3 stops in the Greater Tokyo area, Tokyo Station - Ueno - Omiya. Here most trains also stop at the 3 stations except for the Hayabusa services that use the newest E5 Shinkansen that skip Ueno station but still stop in Omiya before going non stop to Sendai.

In Ueno Station there is any track with no platform for nonstop services?

No there isn't, through trains pass the station along one of the 4 platforms.
