It is for sure conceptual. Look how poor the details are. It is just to give a rough idea of the height.

This tower will be the landmark of the new district, and some people at Yuexiu Group said the tower shall exceed 600m but nothing is sure yet.

Also, I couldn't find any bigger image yet. Some new might be released soon.

i really hope we will still get a 600m building, even though the original masterplan had a 450m building. i guess the main buildings in the masterplan will have own design contests anyway and then we may see how tall it can get.

I also hope that the surrounding will be nice looking either. Not dozens of copies.

For those who make comments about buildings seen on masterplans, I let you have a look at this picture.

The masterplan designers objective is just to design the general aspect of the area. When promoters buy the grounds, they are free to design their own constructions.

The masterplan of Zhujiang New Town wanted twin towers, but promoters decided not to follow the plan and built something different from the neighbour. I believe this is the best example I can give.

Final buildings design is never known until approved by the promoter.

Yes, they're just placeholders...nothing more.

Plans for Guangzhou International Financial Town Unveiled
Guangzhou government has approved the urban design for the first developing area of the Financial Town, according to a report by Guangzhou Daily yesterday. The construction will begin early next year and is expected to be completed by 2016.

The long-waited Guangzhou International Financial Town has finally unveiled its plans and designs for construction!

Guangzhou government has approved the urban design for the first developing area of the Financial Town, according to a report by Guangzhou Daily yesterday. The construction will begin early next year and is expected to be completed by 2016.

The first area to be developed covers an area of 1.32 square kilometer and stretches from Keyun Road in the west to Chebei Road in the east. Five old factories in this area will be transformed into parks or museum and reopen as part of the Financial Town in the future.

The latest design scheme shows that the whole town covers a total area of 8 square kilometers and includes five functional sectors – a financial headquarters zone, a financial office zone, a business comprehensive zone, a waterfront recreational zone, and a residential zone, as well as a five-story underground city, about 75 meters deep. The underground city will develop a transportation system to take most of the traffic under ground and people will barely see any cars on the roads in the new area. The town is expected to accommodate about 24,000 residents and provide over 164,000 job opportunities.

Blueprint of the Financial Town

A financial center with comprehensive facilities

The town is set up to attract more international financial enterprise headquarters and accommodate eight financial transaction centers such as Guangzhou Future Exchange, Property Rights Transaction Centre and Foreign Exchange Transaction Center. It's also equipped with service agencies and firms of accounting, law and consulting as well as some cultural and entertainment establishments such as museums, summit forum, financer's club, art galleries, shopping malls and cafés.

Map of the Financial Town

A financial city with smart construction and close to nature

According to Mr. He Jingtang, chief advisor of the Financial Town design, the office block takes the shape of a square and is surrounded by water. The office buildings adopt the traditional architecture design of Qilou and are connected by pavilions and pedestrian corridors, bringing convenience to office workers. The landmark building of the town will be 450 meters high, higher than the West Tower in Zhujiang New Town.

The Financial Town is said to be an environmental friendly "city" rather than a "Cement Forest". Pleasant water views, lush plants and beautiful gardens will intertwine with modern buildings.

The town also practices and promotes a low-carbon lifestyle and transportation. The town will adopt twelve green urban technologies including garbage vacuum pipes, central cooling, water reuse and others. The emission of carbon dioxide is expected to be reduced 120,000 tons a year.

The town will build a low-carbon transportation system. Green commuting such as walking, cycling and taking public transportation will account for 80 percent of commuting.

A financial area with the largest underground space in China

The underground city covers an area of 1,800,000 square meters, more than three times the space under Zhujiang New Town, Guangzhou's businesses center. The 75 meters deep space will be used for shopping outlets, roads and parking lots for cars and public transportation vehicles. Therefore, it's said that no motor vehicles will be found on the ground around the town since everyone will be travelling under your feet.

The managing panel for the Financial Town's construction and development has began to carry out assessmenst for environmental safety and geologic hazards, and study the distribution of underground pipes and precious ancient greenery.

Considering that Evergrande is, or at least used to be, the developer for the main plot, the project isn't very likely to be built. Concerning supertalls Evergrande is a total troll, they have announced countless supertalls in all China but none was ever started.
