Anyone know any other super tall buildings that has been proposed and maybe it could be constructed in this new CBD? And does anyone know around the time that construction might be starting or has it started already. If it has already started, can you put pics on its current progress. Thanks!

Maybe completion around 2019-2023 (complete guess, but based on my knowledge of China construction speeds)

would be amazing, thought that was long term and we wouldn't see it rise until the early 2020s

Does it mean the whole new CBD or just the main tower?

I don't know how many phases there is but I think phrase one is probably only small part. This New CBD will probably experience the same way as Zhujiang New City. It will take at least 5 years to make it look like a financial city and 10 years to look like Zhujiang New City. But miracles can happen, maybe it will finishe 2018.

Phase 1 is mostly demolition, and tearing things up to get the plots of land to match the CBD design. They have a lot of demolition to get started with, if you take a bus or taxi down Keyun Road, the villages are already half torn down, or already encountered the wrecking ball and are a huge pile of rubbish. The old factories there are also still standing and need to be deconstructed which is one of the first plans.

The CBD mentioned here is called International Finance City and doesn't include the Pazhou CBD. Yuancun is phase 2 of this IFC project.

Here some new pictures of the CBD which seem to confirm that the masterplan is not the one Zorg announced lately, height is also only 450 and not 580 as we still mention this here.

I know it's just a concept render but I hope they don't use those shapes!

yeah saw these renders in bad quality before, i think when you initually posted that this 450m inferior design was chosen and we all hoped it wasn't final.

I think the issue here is not height, as 450 m is quite fine for a secondary CBD even farther from the old centre than the Zhujiang-Tianhe one - the issue is the design quality of the CBD layout, I was a bit surprised with those 'Shanghai Xintiandi'-like pedestrian walkways in between those low rises
