‘No quarry scam’ – Pacada; probe calls snowball

TARLAC City – Vice Gov. Pearl Pacada declared there is no quarry scam.
Breaking the Sangguniang Panlalawigan’s silence on reports detailing alleged scam in the quarry operation in the province, Pacada’s office issued a press statement saying, “the vice governor and (the) Sangguniang Panlalawigan or any of its members and staff has never referred to any alleged scam.
The statement surprised many who recalled Board Member Antonio Cervantes’ published announcement of the SP’s plan to “investigate the Gerona quarry scam.”
Reports of a quarry scam was triggered by the recent resignation of Gerona’s chief of police who reportedly was peeved by the mayor’s alleged badmouthing when he broached the idea of implementing the Anti Overloading Law against the hundreds of trucks delivering quarry materials to the ongoing Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway.
Concerned citizens and some members of the media are set to submit a manifesto to the SP strongly calling for an investigation into 10 “quarry scam-related questions before enacting an ordinance being deliberated by the SP.”
The SP is now deliberating on Cervantes’ sponsored ordinance which seeks to amend the 1993 Provincial Tax Code and which is also intended “to allay and resolve the reported scam.” George Hubierna

Sana ung mga local reps ng Skyscraper City ay mag post ng mga progress pictures at updates kung nasaan na ang TPLEX construction. Marami kami na nasa abroad ang interesado dahil sobra na ang traffic sa McArthur Highway papuntang norte. Please lang!!!!

I just played tennis with one of the engineers working on TPLex this morning [nice meeting your sir!] and he said that their target date of completing that part from Carmen to La Paz is December of this year. Mabagal lang daw talaga ang government when it comes to ROW issues pero they're doing their best to meet the target.

Last week, buses and trucks bound for MNL were rerouted to that hi-way passing Rosales-Cuyapo-Moncada I think because of Moncada's town fiesta so I got to see the construction site. I think tuloy-tuloy naman ang trabaho nila. Sabi nung engineer nasa bandang Cuyapo na yata sila. Sorry no pictures.

That is a positive news, next step is whoever can update us with the construction pictures will give us a nicer update on this thread

they should rename this project now as Tarlac-Nueva Ecija-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway because it passes thru several nueva ecija towns like Cuyapo, Nampicuan and Guimba in la union it only terminates at rosario, bungad lang po ng La Union
