No offense, pero I find the 4-lane SCTEX very narrow and will not last for a decade without adding more lanes....then now this TPLEX is another 4-laner?? Same problem, maybe same reason.... C'mon! Is this because of lack of foresight, or lack of money, or lack of both?

based pa kasi sa pangangailangan, 4 lanes is enough, kapag nag reach na ang maraming volume ng sasakyan na gumagamit nito, dadagdag naman sila ng another lanes.

korek....there is a lot of space of additional lanes....why invest sa 6 lanes if 4 lanes will do...when the need arises then....go for it.....meanwhile....redirect the scarce resource to other projects....that would expand the infras capability to uplift the economy....

Tama. shempre meh FS naman yan at naka project dun ang expected traffic demand. Bakit ka gagawa ng 6-lane expressway if 4 lanes will do.

8 lanes ang kayang kaya sa SCTEX with shoulders both sides.

6 lanes borol to sta rita

4 lanes sta rita to dau somewhere.

Yun nga lang baka 10, 15, 20 years pa.

I checked the current North and Central Luzon maps, mukhang Gerona Interchange ang pinakamalapit papuntang Maharlika highway bandang Science City of Munoz (Pura-Guimba Road) then San Jose City northbound to Cagayan Valley.

Unless makagawa sila ng panibagong ruta from Carmen Interchange eastward hanggang Tayug, Pangasinan tapos pagtawid ng bundok eh Santa Fe, Nueva Viscaya na agad.

Quote:
"The project route alignment starts at the terminus of the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway Project in La Paz, Tarlac and traverses through the municipalities of Tarlac, Gerona, Paniqui and Moncada, all in the province of Tarlac and the municipalities of Carmen, Urdaneta, Villasis and Sison in Pangasinan province which will end up at the intersection of Rosario-Pugo road in Rosario, La Union," Momo added.

Project components of the 2-lane includes eight (8) interchanges located at Victoria, Gerona, Paniqui, Moncada, Carmen, Urdaneta, Pozzorubio and Rosario with nine (9) toll plazas and two (2) operation center buildings situated at the Carmen Interchange and other Sub-Centers at selected interchange sites.

TPLEX will have 11 waterway bridges, two (2) viaducts, 66 underpasses/1 overpass and tollway facilities to include toll equipments, rest areas, administrative buildings and maintenance depot.

Sta. Rita Exit - Maharlika Hiway pa rin talaga ang the best daanan. Byahe ka na lang sa gabi.

That's great! TPLEX will surely speed up travel time in a few years' time.

PGMA breaks ground for new expressway to La Union

ROSALES, Pangasinan, Feb. 28 (PNA) -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will lead the groundbreaking tomorrow (Monday, March 1) of the country’s next expressway project: the 88-kilometer, four-lane Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX) to be built at a cost of P16.88-billion

TPLEX will extend modern expressway travel to Northern Luzon and nearer to Baguio City from Tarlac, the farthest point traversed by the merging the SCTEX (Subic, Clark Tarlac Exchange) at Tarlac and the NLEX (North Luzon Expressway).

Rosario, La Union is the main entry point to Baguio City.

To be built by the Department of Public Works and Highways, TPLEX will be transferred soon after completion to the private sector which will manage the new road under the private public partnership program (PPP).

The new expressway is seen to spur economic development in Regions 1, 2, 3 and the Cordillera Autonomous Region.

The TPLEX is one of President Arroyo’s strategic projects in the North Luzon Agribusiness Quadrangle Super Region, one of the five growth corridors she laid out in her 2006 Super Region development strategy.

TPLEX is expected to cut travel time from Tarlac to La Union and Baguio City by two hours. Areas to be traversed are the towns of Victoria, Gerona, Paniqui and Moncada, all in Tarlac; Carmen, Urdaneta, Binalonan, Pozzorubio and Sison, all in Pangasinan.

Phase 1 of the TPLEX will be two lanes initially while Phase 2 will be expanded to four lanes when vehicle load target reaches 25,000 per day.

As of Feb. 25, 2010, P438 million has been released by government for right of way acquisitions and detailed engineering plans. (PNA)
