Tabriz signs tram agreement
19 Mar 2014

IRAN: Chinese company CITIC has signed a memorandum of understanding with Tabriz municipality for the construction of a tramway. This would run along the Azadi Boulveard and Azerbaijan Boulevard, to the south and west of the city centre.

Among those present at the signing were Mayor Sadeq Najafi and Deputy Governor of East Azerbaijan Province Poor Mahadi. CITIC is also to look at options for a 6 km metro line between El Gholi and Shahriyar
Maybe it better rename tread as TABRIZ | Public Transport

After long years’ construction, Tabriz’s metro system is opened at last.

Like other Iranian metros except Tehran – it was also delayed due to hard soil, and fear of damage of archeological and historical objects. However, better late than never.
Tabriz’s metro is the 5th Iranian metro system. Rolling stocks are same as Tehran’s new metro, and Isfahan Metro but the difference is that Terhan Metro uses 3rd rail, where Isfahan & Tabriz metro uses overhead wire.

Already they have planned long term plan. Line 1 will be extended in south-west. Line 2 will be an east-west line, which will connect the suburban rail station in west Tabriz. Line 3 will be a north south line, and line 4 will be a half circular line, which will connect all rest 3 lines.

I’ve some questions (arose after viewing some websites). Please answer one by one –

1) Left side, right side or both sides, - which type of platforms are in most numbers in Tabriz subway network?
2) Which is the deepest of Tabriz metro?
3) Which is the busiest metro station?
4) Where is/are the depot(s) of the subway network?
