Olympic Tennis Complex Competition Results
The Winner has been announced! Scroll down to the Judging and Scores Sections to find out more.
BRIEF In a recent competition here in the little corner we like to call creative corner, entrants were given the challenge of designing a Tennis Complex for the 2016 Olympics in 3D. They were to choose from the seven cities that bid to host the games (Rio de Janeiro, Chicago, Doha, Tokyo, Madrid, Prague, Baku), and were given the following guidelines:
JUDGING There were 3 judges who scored the entries in six different categories out of 5 to give a score out of 30. These scores were added together to give a score out of 90. There was also a poll so that everyone could decide on their favourite. Each entry gained one point for each vote they received in the poll, with the poll closing when 10 votes was reached by one of the entries. This gives a total score out of 100. There was also some minor point deductions added at the end for failing to meet certain criteria. The 6 Categories for judging are as follows:
SCORES Entry: Abde01 Judge 1 Score: 22 Judge 2 Score: 21 Judge 3 Score: 21 Poll Votes: 8 Deductions: 1 Total Score: 71 Entry: Leedsrule Judge 1 Score: 21 Judge 2 Score: 24 Judge 3 Score: 23 Poll Votes: 10 Deductions: 5 Total Score: 73 So the winner with a score of 73/100 is LEEDSRULE. Congratulations and thank you to both of the entrants as well as the judges. It really was a close call; you can see the entries for yourself below. ENTRIES Although many people started designs, in the end only two entries were finished by the deadline. I thank everyone for the effort they put into this project, particularly the two who completed their entries. ENTRY 1: abde01 The complex is located in Doha (near the Aspire Sport Center) The big stadium has 9700 seats, 30 loge, 2000 vip seats, 150 press seats The second has 5000 seats, 500 vip seats, 75 press seats The third has 3500 seats, 500 vip seats, 75 press seats And the numbers 4 to 12, have 500 seats, 24 vip seats, 16 press seats There is a building for administration Stadiums 2 and 3 and their roofs are not finished due to not having enough time. What if the poll finishes a draw? Also, when will the final result be announced?

Due to how close the poll is as well as how close the judges scores are (There is just two points in at at the moment!), I have decided it would probably be a bit unfair for somebody to gain 10 points if they were to win the poll by just 1 vote. Whoever wins the poll would basically be the winner, making the judges score practically irrelevant. Therefore I've decided instead of the winner of the poll earning 10 points, each entry will be awarded one point per vote in the poll. So for example if an entry has 5 votes it gains 5 points, if it has 10 votes it gains 10 points, and so on. I think this is a fairer system |

well done to both! fantastic proposals, was hard to choose from both. would have been good to see some basic circulation diagrams, having said that their absence didnt take away from the proposals at all. i loved abde01's roof covering the smaller courts making a strong connection over the whole experience, however the other 2 larger courts needed a bit more articulation in their connection to the rest of the site and overall design.
would have liked some sort of explanation as to why court 1 is separated from the rest of the tennis courts in leedsrule's one as well. apart from that aesthetically you both designed great stadiums, keep it up!

It was only because that was where there was a gap, and I wanted to spread all the venues around the park to create an complete atmosphere.

I would like to organize the next competition, have the perfect idea: A quite large stadium in a small and cumbersome space :P

Problem with that is a lot of us dont have computers that can handle big stadiums. I cant work with much more than 20,000

Dont worry theres no need for using any polygons for the seats, you could just apply a texture of a crowd on the tier. However the number of seats must be calculated somehow.
