My favorite is definitely your 17 State street! (But I like your whole skyline)

I'm still working on 40 Wall (even as I write this, as a matter of fact). I expect to finish the facade tomorrow and then start on the pyramid crown. With a bit of luck it'll be completed and in my skyline by Monday. On my next project, I'll try to document and record the entire process step by step. I haven't quite decided what it'll be yet |

40 Wall Street
Here is my 40 Wall Street (aka Manhattan Company Building, aka Trump Building). I wasn't quite sure how this one would turn out, but I'm pleased with the end result. It definitely enhances the Downtown part of my skyline.

4 Times Square Project
I'm going to try and document the entire process of making my next model, 4 Times Square (Conde Nast Building). I'll try to explain each step as best as I can.
The very first step is getting all my measurements down and converted to my scale. I study photos and 3D models of the building and try to figure the best way to approach construction. I usually begin with what I deem to be the main core structure of the building, after which I work my way down the various setbacks or facade variations, all the way down to the base. I usually leave the crown or roof for last. Here is the first page of measurements for 4 Times Square. I might have incorrectly noted that the stone setback in limestone, when it might actually be granite. Not sure, but it doesn't really matter in the end ![]() Here is the Main Tower Structure cut out and put together. Notice the missing corner. This will be where the curved section of the facade will be. ![]() Before I can continue with the rest of the building, I have to complete the curtain wall facade for the Main Tower Structure, because the various other setbacks and details will be built on top of it. Here I've measured out on regular poster board the entire curtain wall for Main Tower Structure ![]() I then measure, cut out, and carefully apply my blue vinyl wrap to the poster board, which will act as the glass curtain wall. I kinda effed up the vinyl when applying it, but with all the various setbacks and details it shouldnt be too noticeable. ![]() Next, I mark with pencil where the various details will go, in this case the metal strips that wrap horizontally around the building, as well as the metal strips which lead vertically down from the giant signs on the crown ![]() That's all I had time for last night. Stay tuned for the next episode |

Thanks very much. I haven't had a chance to work on 4 Times Square for the past two days, but as soon as I do I'll update the tutorial.

I'm working on 4 Times Square as I write this. There should be some serious progress this weekend, and I've already figured out the lighting scheme for it. It should be really cool. |

Don't know! I didn't download the skyscrapercity app because I spend a lot of on this forum when I switch on my MacBook so I don't want to do the same on my phone.
![]() But I know there's an "imageshack" app in the AppStore. By copying and pasting the links I think you could post pics with your iPhone. I didn't try but I think so! Do you have the iPhone5? |
