Actually, Busan has various different faces, old face and even ugly face
The pictures above show ONLY heaundae district.

More importantly, Heaundae skyline looks quite diffrent according to the angle, time and photograpers's intention.

In reality, Heaundae doesn't look scary.

I would add this shot to the Busan compilation. You can say a lot of things about it, but "scares me" must be the last one!

I'd have to say Moscow and Singapore are the best examples.

Buildings are packed in Suyung bay area, Heaundae in Busan now.
But once LCT towers (one building over 411m, two buildings over 300m) are completed in Heaundae, the skyline will be a little bit scattered as the skyline become bigger and wider.
But when the Heaundae skyline is connected Centum city' skyline, Busan's skyline will be one of greatest skyline in the world.

Thank you for writing very positive comments to Busan.

I'm quite relieved.

Because I vividly remember that many forummers here bashed Busan(also, Korea) as the most ugly city in the world. Things are changed now.

Busan has got one of the most elegant skylines on earth!
And the best compact example is Moscow!

Makati is exactly that...

Makati Central Business Disctrict has a compact skyline..

sometimes it's not too obvious because other neighboring cities' CBDs are close, which makes the buildings look quite spread.
Metro Manila is definitely spreadout... with multiple CBDs.. but when talking about just a single CBD, like Makati, they're actually pretty compact.

I think San Francisco is in this category as well... together with Seattle makes my top 2 compact skylines.

Each CBD within Metro Manila has a compact skyline.

Zany and beautiful San Francisco, one of the most compact financial downtown districts...

Atlanta's is another one (2 clusters really) but not as nice.

.
Makati is OVERLY congested; more so than compact. The Ayalas tried to cram in as much as they could before Ortigas/Pasig and Alabang would become the new hi-rise centers as well. The Ayalas did not learn or didn't care to learn from the mistakes of the older parts of Manila...which is why Ayala Avenue & Makati is as polluted and congested as the older parts of Manila. The Ayalas got too greedy.

I must agree that Makati is very dense. And much more so than any other south east asian skyline. Singapore is too small I feel, and not as dense apart from a few blocks. And it goes around that whole bay now also.

Although Moscow and Busan skylines look the best from a compact perspective, I have to say that nothing beats the awe you get walking through midtown Manhatten! Actually nothing gets even close. Not even Chicago. Hong Kong is too spread and is like a long line of skyscrapers instead of being dense. Chinese cities doesn't really have it yet for density. ALthough I am a huge fan of Chongqing. I haven't been there yet, but Chongqing needs more attention here. Also Dubai Marina looks promising!

Almost every city in Australia, Canada, and the US has a compact skyline. It's a rarity to find one that's scattered.
