Is it just me, or does "Metro Manila" sound like an '80s dance craze?

It is the term given to all the cities that form this metro including Manila, the capital, Makati, the business and financial centre, Quezon City, Pasay and so on.

Could you just respect others opinnion about Makati and Manila not being that compact? No one is trying to hurt your feelings.

Minneapolis and Canary Wharf are some of the best examples I've seen on this thread so far.

We all respect the post of others here in this thread.

But I still believe that The Makati skyline is still compact as so are the Pinoy forumers here.

And I'm still firm with it despite what others say.

I work in Makati so I would know and also the fact that I do take alot of picture of it's skyline and cityscape.

And many of those who do not believe it has never even been to Makati.

Of course I know what Metro Manila is. I said it sounds like an '80s dance craze. I have no idea how you got "What's Metro Manila?" out of that.

haha, gotta love the philippinos sometimes. Tbh, I'm not allways sure if they are aware how funny they can be.

About Manila though, we get the fact that it is several cities in one. But really, it is one city in my view! :p

I don't call Tokyo, Yokohama, Kawasaki, Sagamihara, Chiba, and Saitama 6 different cities either. They are one in my eyes! Same with Osaka, Kobe, Kyoto. Or Minneapolis/St Paul. A bureocratic line on the map doesn't count in my eyes as a valid reason to divide one urban are into two or more. Just my 2 cents

Problem is we cannot stop those who keep posting images of Makati though I discourage people who post flood this thread with images of the said area.

1 to 5 images is enough.

It's Filipinos!

I also have the same thinking as you since to me Manila is Metro Manila as a whole and not just The City of Manila.

To call it with individual cities leads to confusion especially for those who are Non-Manilans.

But many Pinoys do it especially those from the metro. Since the fact Metro Manila is a conurbation of these cities.

Just look at the New 7 Wonder cities for example where you have individual Pinoys nominating their own individual Metro Manila city and even making it on the top spot.

Honestly, these mention cities do not even deserve such position!

Again, Manila to me is Metro Manila. Just like this Street Atlas in which it mentions Manila but uses The Makati Skyline.

Wow, that New7wonder website has some strange definitions.
Salzburg and Vienna are counted as "eastern europe" and St Petersburg is counted as "south and central asia"!

I honestly cannot agree that either Makati or Singapore have compact skylines. Perhaps, certain angles would give the impression that they are compact but IMHO, camera angles is kind of not the point of the thread.

IMHO, examples of compact skylines are downtown LA, La Defense, and Canary Wharf. Of the three, Canary Wharf is my favorite.

While there is really just one Makati CBD, the Makati skyline almost always include the Makati Ave cor Kalayaan Skyline (including Century Properties), the Rockwell Cluster, the buildings along Pasong Tamo and the other surrounding areas of the CBD.

If we are going to be strict about it, perhaps, the Ayala/Makati CBD would constitute a "compact" skyline, but the Makati Skyline, for me, aren'ts just those buildings in and around the Ayala Triangle.
