For me it was an interesting mixture of 2 buildings really, or 2 sets of buildings for that matter.
I grew up on a US military base that was about 15 minutes from Frankfurt, so the skyscrapers in Frankfurt really initiated my love of skyscrapers. However, it was the collapse of the WTC on 9/11 that really made me serious about skyscrapers.

Watching Q1 make its statement on the skyline is what got me interested in skyscrapers. Then Evo1/Evo2 made me sign up to this website.

Those masterpieces of Art Deco the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building.

I used to meet my Dad who worked in Manhattan when I was a boy and I always loved those silver buildings - so beautiful, so powerful, so elegant - soaring into the sky.

If I'm honest I'm not really that bothered about skyscrapers, or even architecture that much in general.

My interest is more around planning and regeneration rather than individual buildings, which I think has always been there even from a relatively young age as i used to enjoy things like that in geography lessons. I largely ignored it at the time because it wasn't something friends etc were interested in and it's much more interesting when you can discuss such things with others, hence my appearance here.

But around 2005/6 there was a big consultation over the regeneration of my home city and I got really engrossed in it, coming up with plans and ideas for different areas and it's something I still go back to.

After I watched the Tokyo in 1930's video...There were no hi-rise, but it's so dense. Consist by many mid-rises. So beautiful. Then I realized that my country doesn't have much panoramas like that, even in 2012 . And that made me interested in skyscrapers

When I was a kid, I really liked the Saint Basil's Cathedral. I first saw the cathedral when I was an elementary student where it was in a poster showing the 7 wonders of the world. I started to like architecture that time and it got me interested in drawing buildings, map outlines, landscapes, etc..
And also, since I was exposed to a lot of hollywood movies when I was a kid, where the superheroes always flies around NYC, some famous buildings like WTC or ESB made me like and learn more about skyscrapers.

I read the book "interesting geography," issued in 1971 when the "GE" was one of the tallest skyscrapers in the world ....
