No, SM City Butuan will be in JC Aquino beside Rosario's. The SM group also acquired that vacant lot beside BDO/D&V, so possibly, SM City Butuan will have two connected buildings along the JC Aquino thoroughfare. Kindly read my full chronology in the previous page.

Welcome to SSC

Mao diay naay gamay nga plane sigeg lupad lupad ug libot libot for the entire day kay nag-aerial survey man diay ang SM sa ilang site because they need all the technical data about Butuan like elevation, flood level history, etc.

Naa pud daw famous architect sa CDO nga nangita ug local architect from Butuan kay iya i-refer sa architect sa general contractor based in Manila which is also one of the contractors sa SM MOA (DDT Konstract tingali).

SM CITY BUTUAN
Chronology of Events

Note: The newest and important information are highlighted in RED.

Latest updates (As of May 22, 2013)

- SM recently conducted an AERIAL SURVEY of the site and city using a light Cessna aircraft. It was seen circling Butuan airspace yesterday from morning until late afternoon.

- The purpose of the AERIAL SURVEY is to take pictures of the site from above using different angles that will be used in the final perspective, to map out the floor plan or building lay out, and to gather technical data about Butuan such as flood level history, elevation and etc.

- A prominent architect from Cagayan de Oro is currently looking for a local Butuan-based architect who will be referred to a Manila-based architect working for a contractor (general construction firm). The contractor, that was awarded the winning bid by SM for the construction of SM City Butuan, is also the contractor for SM Mall of Asia (possibly DDT Konstract Incorporated).

What you need to know about SM City Butuan:

- Rumors broke out way back in 2010 regarding SM's coming in Butuan

- Press releases of an SM mall in Butuan have been in circulation as early as 2011. No less than the big man Mr. Hans Sy, President of SM Prime Holdings reiterated this over and over.

- SM has concluded the purchase of parcels of land in Brgy. Lapu-Lapu, JC Aquino Avenue.

- SM City Butuan will be akin to SM City GenSan.

- SM City Butuan will be a sprawling type of mall situated in two properties between the JC Aquino Avenue. The property beside Rosario's is estimated to be around 6 hectares while the opposite property is around 3~4 for a total of 9-10 hectares.

- Both properties are enclosed with GI sheets bearing the sign "NO TRESPASSING".

- Demolition works for establishments near these properties have started as early as late 2011. These establishments include the abandoned building of La Cocina de Caraga, Uncle Sam's, some machine repair shops, eateries, vulcanizing shops, etc. It was also divulged by an employee of a BDO branch near SM's property that establishments near their building are to relocate ASAP.

- Terp Asia Construction Corporation (contractor of Robinsons Place Butuan) will also be the contractor according to the foreman of Robinsons Place Butuan who divulged/confirmed to BOB-bXu that his company won the bidding for the construction of SM City Butuan.

- SM is already on the process of securing important documents and permits from the local government of Butuan as of February 21, 2013. This was confirmed in a recent press briefing by Mr. Paul Cabrera, Head of the Business Permits and License Division (BPLS) of the City Hall.

- Last February 21, 2013, a female Tax Officer from the Corporate Tax Division of SM Investments, visited the City Assessor's Office at the City Hall. She personally handed over a hand-written letter with her calling card. The letter was requesting for four important (4) documents that will be used for studying the feasibility of SM's taxes to the City Government of Butuan.

- The tailoring shop near one of SM's properties has been demolished. Rosario's is rumored to transfer to its new location in front of Gaisano in a soon to rise four storey building.

- The construction of the Lawrence Ting building, which will house the new Rosario's Seafoods and Grill, in front of Gaisano Mall is about to commence. The property is enclosed with galvanized iron sheets and a bunkhouse is being set up.

- The back area (Pili Drive) of SM's property is enclosed with barb wires.

- SMIC's financial report dated December 31, 2012 stated that it has acquired 37,233 square meters of development property in Butuan.

- Last week, a group of official representatives from SM Investments had a meeting with the branch manager and officers of a BDO branch here. Also present in the meeting were members of the Plaza family (DO Plaza Holdings Corporation), the former owners of the property acquired by the SM Group.

And, according to an insider:

- SM will start the construction of SM City Butuan by August or September.

- SM City Butuan will be a FOUR-STOREY structure.

- Clearing is on-going at the opposite property fronting the actual site of the soil testing as of May 17.

- Soil testing is on-going inside the enclosed property as of May 16.

- There's a tarp hanged outside the site. It says "Metro Construction Inc. Geotechnical Group - Geotechnical Subsurface Investigation". Metro Construction is a company that specializes in soil testing. It is based in Cubao, Quezon City. They've been here in Butuan since last week, together with the SM reps.

It would be nice if whoever butuan architect will chose to design SM butuan, he have to make sure that green and ecofriendly technology will be included in the list so that it create less consumption and less pollution coming from the building. This will be our own pride and trademark in creating design SM butuan if that will come true.
