Designs look original but they could of made it a bit more rugged even if they are gunna do the ice-icle thing!

What other weird designs are there? These are the only unconventional ones that come to mind.

i was thinking about the other three gehry towers that apparently are the same project, but an old design. i was certainly confused by the fact that we got a new thread and the old thread wasn't updated, which made me think this was a different project.

Off topic, but I was suprised to hear that Mies' early works were neoclassical houses before he moved to his signature modern style.

On topic, I would love it if the design was only the middle tower. Much nicer than the other proposals, I'd say!

I imagine that most architects go through a lengthy process in their early careers till they arrive at an aesthetic that becomes associated with them. Regarding the original Gehry proposal, I much preferred them to what we have now but expect many revisions before we see the final product. Gehry literally had to throw something together quickly in 4 months. What we're looking at now is a first draft.

Gehry's early work involved cinder block and lots of chain link fencing so I'd say he's come a long way!

This has been approved. Looks like Toronto will finally get a super tall after coming 2m short back in 1972. Who knew it would take 44 years for it to happen.

Now we can start obsessing over getting a 400m+ building.

Most people say it's a mess. But honestly, with the right materials it would have looked unbelievable

I can't say that I love them the way they are now, but it's important to realize that these are conceptual models and part of the architectural process. They will go through many refinements before we see the finished product. That said, people either love Gehry buildings or they hate them. I'm squarely in the 'love' camp. If we end up with a typically sculptural Gehry design, these promise to be stunning.

Famous Gehry Buildings

Guggenheim Museum - Bilbao
Walt Disney Concert Hall - Los Angeles
8 Spruce Street - New York
Art Gallery of Ontario - Toronto

EMP Museum, Seattle
