I really enjoyed touring this region of Poland, so many small towns as above largely with intact historic centres like Puck, Grudziadz and Chelmno. Chelmno is stunning.

Btw, have you kidnapped RS UK-PL and taken over his thread

It's a shame Gniew isn't the same although they have apparently rebuilt one side of the rynek and are planning more reconstructions.

One interesting factoid, the heart of Saint Valentine is enshrined in the cathedral in Chelmno. What's interesting my friend lit a candle at the shrine when she was there and within a month of returning to Canada, she met someone. Maybe just a coincidence

This wasn't a government building. Łódź was too hated by russian empire and later by Poland before WW2 (from the same reasons - too multicultural in a country with nationalist character) to be blessed with some importatnt national-funded institutions even tho it was one of the biggest cities in Russian Empire and Poland. All was funded mostly by the people who built this city, manufacturers like Scheibler or Poznański.

And this building is Poznański's palace. Pretty well known actually.
Same angle:

As you can see this part of town looks different now, as it was demolished by germans and then russians during and after WW2 and turned into park.

Well, government in the sense of authorities was what I should have written. In the Interbellum the palace was the head office of the Voivodeship.

I didn't even know that, thanks
Anyway, It wasn't built for this purpose and certainly is not known by that fact
