My family is a bit weird.. a lot of recent migration, you can't really say they are from one place.

Mother was born in Mogadishu, but both her parents were from the Ogaden.
Father was born in Kismaayo, his parents in Bay, but all g-grandparents were from Bari.

Yeah technically so, but my family have been living outside of it for awhile.

Did your parents really live in Burco during Somalia's 'golden era' (60-70s)? Most of the older educated diaspora folk from Somaliland I know tend to come from Mogadishu.

No, they moved when they were kids. Hoyo lived in Xamar, Abo moved to Khaleej.

Yes, many lived in Xamar because that's where all the action was then!
