TSN | Tianjin Binhai International Airport

Tianjin airport has been undergoing substantial change recently.

Passengers in 2000: 884,448
Passengers in 2010: 7,277,106
Goal for 2020: 25,000,000

They completely rebuilt the entire airport a few years ago with a new terminal, second runway, and onsite Airbus factory. They are now working on terminal 2, the biggest terminal of the planned 3 terminals.

Terminal 1:

Construction of terminal 2 has started, as you can see in this satellite image:

It's impressive that China is increasing capacity with every form of transportation within the country. Very nice.

No Tianjin-Beijing flights I presume

Not much of a surprise to see that airport grow at such an amazing pace. The capacity of PEK has already reached its limit and you can reach Beijing from Tianjin within 30 minutes by HSR.

Does anybody know the current capacity and the new capacity after they open the new terminal? Million passengers a year I mean.

Design Capacity:

T1: 10 million
T2: 15 million

The 2013 TSN pax is 10.035 million (+23.3% yoy, ranked #24th) so the T2 opening is just about time.
