It’s war, Gangnam Style, at universities in Ontario. A video parodying the chart-topping Korean single was posted to YouTube by York University student David Kim Sept. 27. It has since garnered more than 270,000 views.

The McMaster University version was posted Tuesday and already has almost 200,000 views. A Ryerson version is also in the works. The idea is that school’s students “can do a much better job!!!” according to the project’s Facebook page. Carleton University has also ventured into the business of parodying hit songs. Its version, which was posted Thursday and has been viewed 7,400 times, features the school mascot Rodney the Raven dancing Gangnam Style around the Carleton campus...

The man behind a video that’s about to become the most watched in Internet history was in Toronto Tuesday. Psy, the rapping sensation from Korea, was holed up in the Ritz Carlton for a number of media interviews. In town to help promote Samsung’s Galaxy Note II super-phone, Psy talked about his life since his “Gangnam Style” video exploded this summer. He also revealed his favourite parody: Ohio University Marching Band.

On Tuesday evening, meanwhile, Psy will make his first live Canadian appearance at the Kool Haus, as part of Samsung’s marketing blitz. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. Tickets were distributed through social media promotions. But if you're determined to see and hear Psy, there is still some hope: Show up dressed like the rapping dancer or bring your Galaxy phone. A few lucky gatecrashers will be selected from the line.

The Gangnam Style video is on its way to becoming the most watched video of all time, according to Channel Meter. Channel Meter predicts “Gangnam Style” will become the top viewed video on Nov. 21, passing Justin Bieber’s “Baby.” The two-year-old tracking site used its own YouTube metrics to make the calculation. During the game they'll be cheering on the Buffalo Bills and Seattle Seahawks, but at halftime, Toronto football fans at the Rogers Centre will be showing off their best horse dance moves as they go "Gangnam Style." Psy's hit song has already gone four times platinum in Canada, and now Canadians can take in the first major appearance by the Korean rapper and YouTube phenom when he touches down on Dec. 16 for the game.

It's the second big pop coup for football in Canada, since TSN snagged Justin Bieber and Carly Rae Jepsen for halftime at the 100th Grey Cup on Nov. 25, also at Rogers Centre. Other Canadian luminaries performing at that event include folk icon Gordon Lightfoot, classic rocker Burton Cummings and country favourite Johnny Reid...

It's getting a bit old, but you can't help smiling at all the parodies. Just LOVE the Rob Ford one with him standing frozen and blushing red-faced with impotent fury!! Yeah, Rob.
McMaster's was the most homoerotic and the U of T guys were the best dancers. The Ohio State Marching Band one was just wrong on so many levels! hehe.... sort of like
if Rob Ford or Stephen Harper tried to be cool; just doesn't work somehow.
