You followers of this thread, answer me: which are the most picturesque villages here posted? And what country has the most beautiful ones?

I like the French villages most, followed by the German ones, then English, and some of the Spanish and Greek in this order. The Italian ones look interesting on top of mountains, but too many are monochrome and look too much like Brazilian favelas.

Please note that Silano is trying to show unconventional and non famous villages from south and central Italy, which sometimes are relatively poor. But there's no way italian villages look like favelas, sorry.

I respect your point, but I cant agree with. There is a huge abyss between a poor Brazilian favela appearance and an Italian hilltop village.

This pic is a favela in Brazil

When you said that Italian villages seem monochrome, I must to disagree with you, again. Ligurian Riviera is a perfect example of explosion of colors and Italy is by far one of the most diverse European countries when the discussion is kinds of architecture. We can see villages and towns with German, French, Spanish, Portughese, Greek, Turkish and Swiss look from the North to the South, believe me.

Sorry, but I think your comparasion wasn't good. However, as I said, I respect it!

The problem is that if you havent't been there plus you live on the other side of the world, you can assume that some of those inland villages are indeed poor. They are not. Try Google Street View and compare a favela with any of those villages.

Some of my favourite italian villages.

I can't really say which kind of european villages i like the most. There is no such thing as "french", "italian" or "german" villages, since the variety of styles and traditions within each of these countries is striking.
France villages for istance range from mediterranean fisher villages in the south, to the provencale style, to the Basque style, to typical medieval villages, to fisher villages in Normandy, and so on...
In the attempt of drawing a conclusion, I can say that I really like those villages with a peculiar building style, like for istance Fachwerkhauser in Germany, stones in some alpine zones of Lombardy, bricks in central Italy. I like fortress-villages with walls and towers, like many in France or Northern Italy. I also like those villages with a Baroque-style tower bell in Austria, Hungary, Romania, Germany...and I like fisher villages from both Mediterranean and North Sea.
