Grip, Norway.

Grip is a deserted fishing village located on a archipelago with the same name some 12 kilometers out in the North Sea. It was settled as early as the 9th century and it is thought that it might have been the oldest settlement in Nordmøre (a district in western Norway). The last person moved from the town in late 1974. Grip also got a stave church from 1470 - the only Norwegian stave church not located in mainland Norway.

The stave church. It have been extensively modified through the years and the current look dates to a restoration carried out in 1933.

Isole Borromee (Maggiore Lake), Italy

Isole Borromee are a group of three small islands and two islets in the Italian part of Maggiore Lake. Their name derives from the House of Borromeo, which started acquiring them in the early 16th century. The largest island was originally a largely barren rock; count Carlo III and his son Vitaliano have ordered the construction of beautiful buildings and precious gardens.

Acquapendente, Italy

This village was settled by Etruscans, but its origins are more ancient. The name of the village, meaning "hanging water", stems from the presence of several small waterfalls forming a stream setting the boundary between the regions of Lazio and Tuscany. Among the insights to see: the Cathedral of 12th century, the remains of the Imperial castle, the Castle of Torre Alfina, the castle of Trevinano, and a beautiful natural reserve "Bosco del Sasseto".
