Most hated buildings

Since we have already a thread about ugly buildings, what about a thread about hated buildings. A building doesn't have to be ugly to be hated, though it can be. There are countless possibilities that can make somebody hate a building

The one building I hate the most is the new WTC PATH hub. The reason why I hate it so much is that it is essentially one huge money eating pit. It costs 3,44 billion dollars, it is an ugly, tiny and completely insignificant building and most of all it's horrible cost is the reason why the beautiful WTC towers didn't receive an impressive height, which they deserve. If they wanted to waste 3,44 billions they could have just give them away to random people. Even though there are far uglier buildings in the world, none of them makes my blood boil like this little bastard

I thought you were going to mention Ryugyong Hotel. That's a shocker.

Obviously only a small part of the cost is this little above-grade bit.

That's true, though why does the cost of the underground instalation have to be that big? It costs more than any other WTC tower except for 1WTC. I doubt this couldn't have been made far cheaper, especially considering that the temporary PATH station costed only 253 millions

I don't really hate buildings, but I am still totally amazed why someone thought erecting this building next to Louis Sullivan's famous Wainwright Building and right on that parklike axis in downtown St Louis (zoom out to see) would be a good idea. If there ever was an award for the most misplaced building, this one would win it.

The most underrated building in the history of mankind is the Ryugyong Hotel without a single trace of doubt.

More hated buildings that do not deserve it are the old 7WTC, NY's Verizon Building, the Minsk National Library, Abraj (maybe), Residencial in Tempo, and Chase Manhattan Plaza in NYC.

Wow I didn't know the Hub at WTC was so expensive - it's really mind-boggling ...
As for my most-hated building, I would go with the MetLife building from NY.
With that kind of shape, it should have no more than 8 levels.
It's an insult to the skyline, almost as if someone looked at the Chrysler building and aimed for the exact opposite.

This hub looks like the skeleton of a dead fish. Pretty ugly and out-of-place for Downtown Manhattan.

It's like all Calatrava's recent buildings look out of place.

The Transport Hub is the last building I would have thought people hated. In my opinion, it is the one of the most beautiful low-rise structures under construction.

What I don't like is the underground section. The view upwards will be nice, yes, but the fully underground section that was already built under the memorial itself looks too much like the inside of a human rib cage, which is quite disturbing for the location.

But I can see why it costs that much. It will pretty much be the 'Grand Central Station' of Lower Manhattan, meaning will be the key to a much more organized and efficient subway system. It's also built on one of the most valuable pieces of land in NYC and it has an expensive, luxury design made of the highest quality materials. Not to mention security costs.

I hope the Performing Arts center will be even nicer.

And these beauties in Toronto. I actually love them individually, but they obstruct the view of the skyline from the Islands.

My most hated buildings are the endless amounts of bland ugly glass condos sprouting up everywhere in Toronto and Vancouver which make the skyline ugly and cluttered. Those cities have become such sell-outs that they've lost their pre-2000 elegance.

Saying that, one of my most hated buildings of all time is the king of ugly glass condos in Toronto, the Trump Tower. It looks like the retarded brother of First Canadian Place and Scotiabank. It takes away so much from those two buildings, and ruins one of their best viewing angles. To make matters worse, they used an ugly postmodernist cladding (beige brick with green glass is the ugliest possible cladding style, imo) and placed an unfitting 1/4 onion dome on top as an afterthought. There are far uglier buildings around the world, but there are few buildings that tick me off as much as that one.
