Not so sure if this city is viable. All pictures look great and the buildings do gleam, but where are the people? Everything looks so empty and forlorn, kinda reminds me of a ghosttown. Putrajaya needs a lot of population and economic injections before it can be the city that it is envisioned to be.

Why so negative? Whats your grouse? Have you been digesting too much regurgitated sour grape turd from the foreign media? What do you call the mass of humanity enjoying themselves and soaking in the sights in the pics following your post? Non-people cardboard props? What forlorn ghostown? Do you know the role of Putrajaya in bringing in the tourism hard currency?

I have offices at KLCC and Cyberjaya (Putrajaya's twin city). I don't feel that I'm in some god foresaken ghostown when I'm in Cyberjaya/Putrajaya. On the contrary, I love it. Nothing like it in SE Asia. After all these yrs, I still enjoy cruising the wide landscaped boulevards while contemplating my next venture. The population distribution and density and general ambience there reminds me of a typical small/mid-sized American city. The populace are generally better-mannered and exhibit what a true Malaysian social fabric should be -- far from the stressful under-siege urban ghetto mentality sadly prevalent in the deep crevices of our inner cities.

Listen, Putrajaya by design was meant to be a garden city with 75% of its area reserved for parks, lakes and open spaces. Wide open spaces, less clutter and managed population/economic growth are all part of the gameplan. If the city feels congested and less "empty," than the vision would be a failure. Don't expect your Jalan Wong Ah Fook type gridlock in Putrajaya and try not to be so uptight about Malaysia's progress and achievements.

I travel quite a bit regularly to the ASEAN capitals and NOTHING beats the overall quality-of-life/cost-of-living package the KL-Putrajaya-KLIA corridor has to offer.

So true with Putrajaya bringing in the tourism hard currency, I was at a New Years function last night and this stunning blonde lady from the trade chambers, after knowing I was from Malaysia, was just so completely delighted she spent half of our mingling time on Putrajaya as a topic, she had nothing but praises for it, which she visited mid year. She was just completely amazed with Putrajaya, the landscaped boulevards, lakes, botanical garden, architecture and quality of the buildings and planning. Her explanations and descriptions of the Putrajaya was so quite vivid to the point that I sincerely believe that they reflected her genuine feelings of awe and amazement, and not simply praises for my benefit, seeing how I'm Malaysian.

Putrajaya is definately a credit to Malaysian progress and development, its definately left some people here in Europe in absolute amazement and awe.

nazrey,

Great pics yet again.

How about a sampling of Putrajaya's residential neighbourhoods -- the townhouses, semi-Ds, and the multimillion ringgit bungalows and villas?
