Doesn't fit with the CN tower. Unfortunately.

Seriously? Why would that even matter?

In my eyes any new supertall in Toronto would be a welcome addition. Add to that I think this design looks good, something different.

Because the CN tower is the icon of Toronto. Its meant to stand solitary. The whole view gets spoiled by the supertall.

We're gonna need to start building closer to the CN tower sometime, why not now?

And thats just it, Ive always thought the tower is in solidarity, always disconnected from the CBD. and for some reason this is good for you? Ive never heard that the CN tower was "meant" to stand in solidarity. is this an actual fact that the developers insisted in 1976 or just your opinion?

I definitely don't think the CN Tower should be viewed as just another element in the skyline that should just be integrated with everything else. It is more like a monument and is magnificent for standing as a monolith.

I do agree with people who say the skyline needs more height to keep from being too overshadowed by the CN. But the height should definitely not be crammed right beside it. That makes the skyline much less interesting and gives it less visual impact.

Agreed. Too close = too bad.

Maybe i worded it wrong.. in that case, more development should conncent the CN Tower with the CBD, BUT it will look awekward if the buildings are not proportional to one another.

this Video shows you how it would look on the skyline: skip to 1:30 to see the fly around.

I think it's about time the CN tower is visually joined to the CBD. This is ok as long as the close buildings are lower than the first pod.
This development will do that, but I think there should be 4 distinct but related designs. How about taller versions of Mississauga's dancing towers?
They should also think about covering all the exposed concrete on the CN tower. I know, millions of LED's, creating the world's tallest TV!

I've always thought about covering it up, only I was leaning more to the clean black "marble" slate looking cladding. Reflective, but not glass. AND I think it would look nice, but SOLID as well. Can't imagine how brittle and fragile it would look with glass cladding.

Thats why I think some "stone/marble" cladding would look good, especially in black.

I'm sorry, but no. The concrete could use some cleaning up, but it should remain concrete. The CN tower is one of the only buildings that looks good with concrete, and I feel changing an icon like it would be horrible. The CN tower to toronto as the Eiffel Tower is to paris, And the opera house is to Sydney. It is what makes the city instantly identifiable, and to change that to "modernize" would be horrible, and a terrible vandiliztion of one of the worlds most important landmarks.

It woulndt be much more trouble than the renovation they did to FCP.

Great Icon for the city and country, but as some people state, it does look a little tacky.

Wow, these renders look amazing.

If they have spend so much efforts creating these renders, then there is some serious traction to get this project built.

And hopefully there aren't any old geysers around to reduce the heights of these buildings like those idiots did with Ten York.

Looks ugly and crooked, but...as long as it detracts from the ugly green glass condos and not from the CN Tower, it's fine. FCP had a good run as the tallest, (sad, because its reclad will be less visible.)

G O R G E O U S !

Love love love every square inch of it. This design is seriously upping the ante for Toronto. Looks like we're finally starting to see some proposals with that wow factor. Finally! Finally!
