How has the response been to this building?

For some reason I really like how it turned out. There is nothing unique or revolutionary about it. However the cladding texture, color and massing seem just right. A traditional design well executed with quality material. There is something subconsciously comfortable about it and it seems like it has been there for much longer than it has.

Is that a strange interpretation or do others feel similarly?

I'm OK with it's shape but I have a feeling this will look cheap and diminutive compared to the residential towers of phase 2. The difference between this and 10 or 15 HY is so extreme.

Agree, but I think there will be more of a mix of a little both for phase 2 to kind of ease the extremeness visually. Robert AM Stern may get tapped for a project or two for the 2nd phase.

There is an absolutely massive telescoping crane hanging the last cladding panels in the gap from the lift. It's got to be over 300 ft tall.
