MIAMI | Miapolis | 975m | 3200ft | 160 fl | Vision

Since I didn't find a thread for this proposal I decided to make one. I believe that at the moment this is a stale proposal. However, one Miami page did mention it this year as still being in the game. Whether the information on this page is accurate is open to debate, however it should be noted that I didn't find any official cancellation for this project, so what will eventually happen with it is unknown for the time being

Below the recent information on the project, sadly, copying and pasting diddn't work for me:

http://www.southbeachcondoagent.com/...iapolis-miami/

And some general information about this project + renders:

Quote:
Miapolis is a proposed skyscraper planned for construction on Watson Island in Miami, Florida. If approved, constructed, and completed the building would stand at 975 m (3,200 ft), with 160 floors, surpassing the Burj Khalifa in Dubai as the world's tallest skyscraper.

The proposed $22 billion dollar self-sufficient development would include an amusement park, a trade center, an observatory, rotating sky-lounge, a shopping mall, restaurants, condominiums, office space, a hotel and a marina, to be built on a 28-acre (11 ha) site. The proposal plans call for 1,000 housing units and up to 46,000 construction jobs over the construction period and to bring 35,000 permanent jobs to Miami. Also included is a proposal to pay-off Jungle Island's debts of $39 million, a new 99-year, master land lease for $4 million per annum, a 300 space covered parking garage for Children's Museum, a Children's Playground on park next to Children's Museum, donating $30 million for full college scholarships, $3.6 million for 4 senior citizen centers, and $6.4 million for PAC and a new Bicentennial Park Miami. Along with a Pan-American Plaza 30 ft above the MacArthur Causeway and a new light rail station at the Pan-American Plaza.
Guillermo Socarras, who proposed the Miapolis development, was in talks with the Federal Aviation Administration to approve the project's height and hopefully create a no-fly zone over South Beach and the Port of Miami.

Quote:
The next tallest building in the world – The Miapolis

Just after a few months of its unveiling, Dubai’s Burj Khalifa was already facing competition. Reportedly plans have been floated for a new super scraper in Miami that could steal the crown of the world’s tallest building from the Burj Khalifa. According to Miami herald, Kobi Karp has submitted designs for Miapolis, a ‘city within a city’ planned for Watson Island in Miami, Florida. If built, the 160 storey building will stand at 980m (3200 ft) high, surpassing Burj Khalifa by 183 meters. The proposed $22 billion dollar self-sufficient development would include an amusement park, a trade center, an observatory, rotating sky-lounge, a shopping mall, restaurants, condominiums, office space, a hotel and a marina, to be built on a 28-acre site. The proposal plans call for 1,000 housing units and up to 46,000 construction jobs over the construction period and to bring 35,000 permanent jobs to Miami.

The project has apparently been around since a decade with developer Guillermo Socarras being in talks with the Federal Aviation Administration to secure approval for the height of the tower. Besides being a rival to the Burj Khalifa, the new building if built will function as an economic engine creating 5,000 permanent jobs, paying off $39 million debt owed to the City and injecting $2.5 billion annually into the local economy.

The project is currently looking for funding from investors. With Miami’s current financial woes including a reported 100,000 plus properties in foreclosure, wonder if this project is the right defense to promote economic growth.

The proposed world’s tallest building, is an iconic building re-defining Miami as a cosmopolitan city, a worldwide tourist destination and an international financial center. As a LEED platinum building, Miapolis will be a metropolis in the sky, self-sufficient, environmental friendly and with a remarkable economic impact leaving no one behind.

Dang this is like that Los Angeles bizzare gothic structures all over again
I hope they hire someone with more talent for the final project, because this one is just ugly. I don't know why so many proposals are purple or yellow - it's not a pretty sight.
Night shot is the only one that looks ok to me.

Can't believe it...how serious is that??

By the way, if you get it done, add a couple of floors or an antenna and make history once and for all to 1000 meters(1km). 975m is a dumb joke.

Make the tower 1000m/1km while we are at it.
I'm not sure if i like the idea of having megastructure like this separate from the cluster. Tower looks out of place, something that isn't risen inside the city for a purpose and is part of the city fabric. It looks more like a tower for some Asian city that is just now building it's identity.

But yeah, like said i doubt this gets further than this.

The design of this tower is very similar to the Seoul Lotte Tower. I think it is a very beautiful building, among the best non-box buildings I've ever seen and its height is just pure awesomeness

The massive base of the building should be about 150-175 meter tall, 600m long

If a certain unreliable government institution was willing to waste nearly 4 billion dollars on a small, 46 meter PATH station, then 22 billions for this gigantic building is a very reasonable price

Btw, that podium is massive, though Abby in Mecca has a similarly massive podium. If Abby could have been built, this can be too

However this project is staled and even if it wouldn't be, a proposal still can be cancelled, therefore one has to view this project with a certain amount of skepticism. It is awesome to have such a proposal for the US but it is not reality yet and maybe it'll never be reality. Only time will tell
