And the pic of indoor swimming pool.

I find the interior and the night version of exterior marvelous. However, just like many other examples of Polish modern architecture here, apearance of this building during daylight is somewhat cold and unwelcoming. More warm colours and materials are needed IMO. Those warm colours have made the pool look so good. Imagine if it was built only in cold materials.

Poles are cold from the outside but warm on the inside

BEOGRAD, not sure I agree 100%.

Would you say this is cold and unwelcoming?

I think what's going in Poland at the moment is something to be proud of. The designs and quality are much better than what was being built in the 90's.

I think the real unwelcoming and cold architecture is what remains from the communist period. But that was mostly intentional. To feel oppressed. You know that.

That being said, the Doubletree Hilton is a simple rectangle. No other way of putting it. But it does look better at night. I wish Poland could get Gehry or some other crazy architect to spice things up.

I have no doubts current architecture is better that the one during communism. However, it seems to me a little more attention could of been shown to use of materials and greenery. I'm not saying anything you've posted is bad, just that it could of been better.

As for the pictures you've posted, they do look cold but it may be solely because it is winter time. I wonder how it looks when trees become green. The second picture doesn't even have greenery. If you ask me, it is always a mistake.

There are many trees in commieblock neigberhoods, developers like to take advantege of it along with the infrastructure. They like to put trees on the renders and advertisment but when it comes to their plot they would rather use all aveilable space for constrution because they don't get money by planting trees.

I don't think that the architects at that time wanted people to feel oppressed why would they do that Of course socrealism supposed to be impressive but in a way understandable to the common man, at least in theory.
Anyway for a "warm" example you chose Murano complex, probably inspired by stalinist architecture so it's kinda contradicting.

I don't think that Murano complex is unwelcoming or necessarily cold. In fact, this part of Warsaw is developing quite nicely. It has that modern elegant feel to it.
