Per today's news it's not a car accident but a crime, arson using gasoline.

RIP for the victims

In fact there are many difficulties in convert existing BRT system to Metro. Like the size of station. This project was unwise in the long-term.

"China's first aerial bike lane to open in Xiamen"

Quote:

China's first bike lane in the sky was recently completed in the southeastern city of Xiamen.

The 7.6-kilometer-long lane is also the longest in the world to be built on raised platforms.

It has 11 exits, connecting with six Bus Rapid Transit Stations, three overpasses and four buildings.

The two-way lane is 4.8 meters wide, offering 355 parking lots for shared bikes and 253 lots for private bikes on seven platforms.

It was built under the city's Bus Rapid Transit line, which can keep bikers out of the blazing sun and rain.

1.3-meter tall guardrails and 30,000 lights are also installed along the lane.

Local authorities say the bike lane will be opened to the public in the near future.

Man, the patience of the camera man! People just parking their bikes in the middle of the bike lane, people cycling all the way to the left of the bike lane, groups just chilling, taking pictures, parents not keeping their children in the correct place on the bike lane, etc. I hope it's only because it was the day of the opening

It's on trial run until Febuary 26 (source). Toll (that will fix the congestion problem )?

Source

The design (likely consultation too) is by DISSING+WEITLING ( Stonecutters, Shenzhong, Shanghai-Chongming link).

How will the toll be collected? How much will it be?

I am guessing tolling would help prevent hawkers selling wares on the walkways, as is common on most bridges and underpasses across China. I hope there is a RFID toll tag that can be mounted on bicycles, including the sharebikes.

The machines suggest a tab in/out scheme like the distance based transit fares in Hong Kong/Singapore.

Bike rental charges were mentioned but not tolls.

and/or chip card based.

They are going to install a lot of cameras to assist the enforcers.

You know it's close to opening when Ditiezu moves its subforum from the Zonghe forum (the "combined" section of all U/C and planned metros) to the main page . I know for sure line 2 is under construction, but not about lines 3 and 4.

Sea-view subway starts trial operation in Xiamen

A sea-view subway line started operating on a trial basis in Xiamen, a coastal city in east China's Fujian Province, on Friday. It is Xiamen's first subway line and passengers can enjoy a view of the sea from moving trains. The Xiamen Metro Line 1 was completed in March after a three-year construction. The line will enter full operation by the end of 2017.
