Great pics, Portugal must have come a long way.
It seems like Portugal's infrastructure projects are paid for by the EU. I'm not completely sure but this sounds reasonable to me.

Yes, "it seems" but it's not entirely so and these statements can sometimes mislead people!

EU budget for Portugal is far lower than that attributed to other european nations, like Spain for example. More, EU contibutes with only 20% of the total cost of these projects!!!! Also, some of the projects are totally financed by portugal's own budget. Our annual budget is far better than most other european countries imagine.

Also bear in mind what Portugal offers in return for these monetary compensations, like killing off our own agriculture to compensate France's and England's already well-off farmers.

Reminds me when I travelled around europe by train, on the way back we went to Geneva airport on this smooth fast tilting train. When arriving back at Gatwick we were greeted by

really was a contrast

im really envious of the railways over there, double deck trains.. ones that actually turn up on time ...

I'm sure there will also be an upgrade of trains there soon.

Interesting looking rail network.
Nice to see it is modern
What other cities have suburban rail/tram systems?

In portugal, besides Lisbon we have them in Porto and Mirandela. Soon we will have them in Coimbra too. The city of Aveiro has a project but it's still deep in the drawer.
