Somali Media Landscrape
there is a rise in Somali media especially in the last 10 year from a few to a dozens today but almost all of them follow traditional approach to media and dissemination of news and information. you have an anchor person stating the news or a reporter interviewing a notable individuals: politician, musician, or civil actives e.g.
views don't want to be just told the news, they want to interact with it and for the media to discuss the key issues in their communities. especially with Somalia in transition i think we as a people could benefit if we had more debates and if we had programs like Al Jazeera the stream where not only do people in the online community prompt the issue but also discuss them whether on Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, and Google+. Somali television is a pain to watch, just try watching any somali satellite channel, and you are presented with poor sound and video quality, and rubbish coverage and journalism. Sorry but it has to be said.

^ No, it's true. You don't need any real education or any real news even to be a journalist these days.
We need to establish standards. |
