This thread is absolutely amazing thank you.

It makes me want to see much more of the country; I've spent two days in Amsterdam and that's it.

I quite like the Logiesgebouw. It looks different and interesting from various angles.

The Dutch are risk takers. I like the pyramid apartment building.

I live in Hungary where most of the nice buildings are bulit in the 1800's and early 1900's. Then there was the two world war and after that we were under a communist regime. During that era mostly soviet style primitive cube shaped buildings made (you can google "soviet blockhouse" if you want to see these). So in Hungary most of the buildings with a very few exceptions are very old fashioned or primitive. All in all these buildings look like to me they're from a science fiction movie. Rotterdam and Amsterdam are the two most beautiful cities in my opinion.

But isn't Hungary getting back in the game? For example, Poland is doing some great work now and there are some things to be proud of. That being said, the Dutch and Scandinavian countries seem to have the best modern architecture in the world.

I don't want to destroy the forum with this topic because it's not made for politics. Anyway it's very difficult to say because we're already EU members but the government is corrupt and the country is in a terribly huge debt. There are more and more new taxes but I haven't seen any progress since the recession in 2008. Also the unemployment rate increased, and the policemen have to make a "defined" amount of money from fines and traffipaxes every month. More and more people move out from here mostly to England and Germany and lots of them move to Austria or the Netherlands because there they can earn a salary four or five times more than here.
