Well, there you go Sunshine, you've got a big soother to suck on.

In all the fabulous renderings of this new Shinybright Buffalo, it doesn't indicate where the expansive parking lots will be located to stage the renowned, difference-making tailgating parties.

No need to be a dick about it, leave the thread if you have nothing to add. there will be a huge parking lot probably where there already is a huge parking lot, see my picture of the north part of the site.

Local lawmakers lukewarm about the proposal, of course all their concerns are valid...

Also nobody has contacted the BILLS about it, lol, WTF?

I think this proposal can be easily financed. Yankee Stadium cost as much, without a hotel or convention component. It's not like that team had the money sitting in a vault somewhere. Buffalo may not be a major city but New York is a major state. The ESDC can finance half of this without breaking a sweat.

The only new NFL stadium actually under construction is going to hold 68,500. 72,000 is probably just the latest sexy proposal figure.

They did this without the team? The proposal is just the fantasy product of developers running loose? Then I guess we're done here.

a billion dollar stadium in Buffalo, Really? what for? I think it would be wiser just update the old ralph, til the owner die, and they can finally move out to somewhere else. Although the canal plan.. looks pretty damn epic...

Kinda awkward situation for the team, isn't it? I mean, they've been trying to negotiate a deal in order to renovate the existing stadium, however, if they show their support towards this plan, then surely the authorities would ditch any renovation plans for Ralph Wilson Stadium?

Sure! While were at it, lets move Green Bay too! And Cincinnati? pfft. Why do they have a team when some much richer cities don't? /sarcasm.

I would think so, there are a lot of hurdles. I think the developers should have definitely contacted the Bills, The Ralph can easily last another 5 years without a dime put into it. If only Ralph would sell the team NOW to one of the two groups that want to buy it and keep them here, but he's a stubborn old man.

Yeah, WTF were they thinking? That seems to be the main reason the politicos and the NFL are thumbing their nose at it

Toronto can't even get 30,000 out for football. This is a Buffalo team and Buffalo is where the stadium must go.

Exactly. Even Hamilton gets more people out for football than Toronto.

I live in Toronto and agree 100%. Toronto is a horrible football market.

Southern Ontarians that would spend money on the NFL already spend money on the NFL by buying merchandise, watching on television, and/or driving to Buffalo for games. There is no benefit to the Bills or the NFL from moving to Toronto.

Besides Toronto has its own team already, one that's older than any team in the NFL. If Toronto liked football, they'd support the football teams they already have: the Argonauts, Varsity, and the Lions.

I have nothing against a small market team, Im a packz fan.. but i have the sense that whole buffalo football culture isnt the same as used to be. So, why would invest tons of bucks for a team that shares half of it season with toronto? With all due respect, once Ralph pass away, the next owners will look for a 'bigger gold mine'. Still It for ashame..I wish to see the Bills in Buffalo for many years to come with all the tradition, but money talks..

70,000 is the min to host a superbowl which is why they are all at that number. Even the St. Louis Dome proposal increases the max capacity to over 70,000 even though they don't sell out so they can bid on a superbowl.

Really? We haven't had a winning team in 13 years, or a contender in almost 2 decades, yes we still sell out one of the largest stadiums in the NFL? And since when do we share half our season with Toronto? You are also unaware that there are 2 groups willing to buy the team, 2 LOCAL groups. This is the problem with this forum, you don't know anything, yet you try and tell us what should happen.

Particular design aside, the concept I think is quite good. Granted, everyone and their brother is trying to get into the convention business so I'm not sure how vast and grand that market is for Buffalo. At least, in terms of productions that would need this scale facility. How many events does the Carrier Dome host outside of Cuse sports?

The requisite list of non-Bills sports comes to mind: SUNY Buffalo games, possible MAC championship games, NCAA playoff events for hoops, soccer and lacrosse. Maybe some high school playoffs or a neutral site col football game (Pitt vs UM?).

During the summer season and in lighter weather this could be a coup in landing larger trade association events because of the location: I know of at least 2 real examples of groups hosting functions in Buffalo so the CEO's could take their wives/mistresses to Niagra Falls and zip around the lake. For others it might be the only real shot they get to cross the border. But as I said this market is growing really congested, and the location will need some work in connecting the stadium with hotels and other support facilities.

If not for the cited cost I'd say the concept is a slam dunk, even if I am sentimental about The Ralph. (I'm a Jets fan (sigh) born in Schenectady) Either way I hope the team propsers. Their fans are right there with the Steelers and Pack faithful among the best in the league.
