Old architecture of Indiana, United States

A lot of people don't realize that Indiana, a small state in the great lakes region of the United States, has a great collection of classical and traditional buildings.

None of these images are mine.

Indianapolis
It should be noted, that Indianapolis is famous for its monuments and public plazas, being only second in America to Washington DC with monuments.

Indiana World War Memorial
This area includes both a large monument based on the Mausoleum of Maussollos, and a long mall filled with fountains, and monuments. It is a fantastic example of the city beautiful movement.

Indiana Statehouse
Though more modest than originally planned, the Indiana State House was meticulously restored in the 1980's to its original Victorian era state.

Das Deutsche Haus (Athenaeum)

A 19th century German clubhouse for the large German community of Indianapolis. It was changed from Das Deutsche Haus to Athenaeum during WWI anti-German sentiment.
