Tel Aviv is today gues the city image
Looks like Tel Aviv and Havana, Cuba are alike. Most of the people who been wrong thought it's Havana (18 members), Beirut (8), Casablanca (6), Rio De Janero (4)...
66 people guesed that it's some city from third world countrty. It shows us that Tel Aviv still got long way to go to be really beutiful city in European/American standards. http://xl.skyscrapercity.com/?page=guess&local=city |

I dont think it means anything.
Obviously Tel Aviv is somewhat similar to other middle eastern cities (Beirut in particular). I don't know if you heard about that but a TV series called "Homeland" shot its "Beirut" scenes in Southern Tel Aviv/Yaffo. It even started an international scandal as Beirut authorities are threatening to sue the producers for showing Beirut in negative way. So what? I can tell you that I have been to many cities around the world and every city has bad spots and urban decay as well as places for tourists. And by the way, most of Havana was built before commies came to power there and Cuba was considered one of the most developed countries in the Caribbean back then. |

What makes the city is the people, the culture, etc. That's really where Tel Aviv really shines. I think most people can agree that in terms of appearance Tel Aviv leaves much to be desired (although that's slowly changing), but it doesn't mean that it's similar to those other cities in the things that really matter.

When you arrive to some countries you see the stunning airports. The moment you leave the airports you are in slums. The Jews are secure people. Instead of a beautiful airport they created world class hospitals and research centers producing scientists and experts. That is where the focus was. When they finally could afford a beautiful airport they built it.
Jews by their nature are also loud and not patient. If you do not house everyone in relative comfort at an affordable price they start a social unrest demanding benefits. You can hear their screams from 10K miles away. 60 years ago they needed to house the new immigrants fast. How could anyone think about beauty when Israel was at war and poor? To a certain degree the urgency still exists but these days Israel is relatively prosperous and wealthy and it can afford to plan and build attractive housing. Israel is already beautiful. There are some stunning places and with time it will only get better. The future is bright. Israel cannot and should not be another Dubai. |

It was nothing important anyways. Whenever Yerushalmi writes something in Hebrew and nobody bothers to translate it, it's usually something that isn't worth being translated.
Most often it will just be a generic name of a generic building, number of floors and that's it. There is no need to translate that IMO, as that will be the first and last time those buildings are mentioned more often than not. |

He's right, you know. You're not liked here because of the way you use our forums. You flood them, you constantly write in Hebrew although everyone agreed that we'll write in English, you misuse topics (like posting general news in Bob-Bonim which is strictly for construction) you bring up old threads and in general you keep picking up troll-fights with other users.
we're trying to build a community here, and that's impossible with one guy hovering above all of us having his own rules and conducts. |

Obviously what you are doing is bullying. Yup I put construction news and photos. whats wrong with that? you come in and post photos once every two months. Quote:
we had a poll in which the overwhelming result was in favor of hebrew. We agreed to let everyone choose and this topic was closed. btw - no one here translates into english more than I translate. Quote:
so show me where I haven't, links please? (or be decent and apologize for once) Quote:
mostly complaints and abusive remarks against other forumers here, ganging up to insult people who do post. Quote:
"yerushalmi exercising his chicken legs" right after I posted the tlv nightrun. He cant help himself but post something insulting. thats what mods are supposed to stop. and I'll end with a surprise for you, people actually thank me for my posts in private. shocker.
