I never said it was about development, I actually meant that it was a cultural thing. Besides, the level of development in east Asia/ parts of southeast Asia and big cities in Russia is generally on par with the west (or, TBH, sometimes even better)

I guess I misunderstood you. Since you said you were surprised about it I thought it was because you meant that Singapore was more developed than other countries in Asia (which it is... perhaps with an exception of Japan). Other than that Singapore shares many aspects with nearby countries in SE Asia.

Yeah, this is what I was unsure of for some reason. I thought it might be different and I don't know why for sure.

Liverpool football club? I have no idea why
image hosted on flickr

As I later got to find out it was English footballer Craig Bellamy taking part in the event. He kicked the ball. I had never heard of him before (I'm not interested in club football) but he certainly attracted some attention that day

Meanwhile there were some far more interesting and exciting things to look at! A couple of girls were distributing free t-shirts and even allowing their photos to be taken with those willing (including me ). This one (unlike other two) seemed very cute and pretty

Waiting for my lunch at a random food place in the CBD. Singapore's food culture is probably the best of any that I had a chance to witness. Food seems to be high quality, very good value and can be found everywhere. I read that food was one of the topics that Singaporean government decided to advertise some years ago when trying to attract more foreign visitors to the country. It certainly worked. Eating in Singapore is one of the great aspects of the city and is a great pleasure be it a cheap lunch place or a hi-end restaurant

Chinatown. It is very much a tourist attraction but certainly not in a boring way. It's a great place to guy souvenirs to bring back home

Owing to the hot climate one must really appreciate the pleasure of having some cold beer. They even put the glasses in the freezer so that it gets as cold as possible. After a tiring afternoon in hot and humid weather there is simply nothing better than having a bottle of ice-cold beer

Views from Ku De Ta bar ontop of Marina Bay Sands. Luckily there was a standing table available right at the best spot to observe the skyline. It was relatively quiet before the dark but later it started getting busy which is when it started feeling great having the best spot in the place
