Seriously!

I love how so many contests seem to hang on the "last minute decision" of these people. Guess that's the all-important 'Imbecile Factor.'

I think they're the same ones who stare slack-jawed at salad bars as if witnessing the parting of the Red Sea.

I love watching election voting count coverage. It's like watching a highly anticipated movie. I am going to make popcorn and plant myself on the couch tonight.

I know man. Hopefully there is a winner tonight. It's exciting when it's close and comes down to the finish, but not having a winner at the end is like a girl who is a tease but never gives it up.

Very happy, even with the semi-embarrassment of Florida still counting votes long after the issue was decided.

Congratulations, Mr. President!

A lot of states are still counting votes. It's just that even with 97% of all the votes counted at this point here in Florida, it's still too close to call.

True enough, but there's also little doubt the president himself was talking about Florida in his victory speech when he talked about the difficulties people were having in voting, especially those interminable lines that every network was showing. It just seems to be an endemic, enduring issue that can (and must) be addressed somehow. Thankfully, the election itself didn't ride on it.

That said, I think Obama probably won Florida (thanks mostly to the turnout in Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach) but even if he didn't, the closeness of the race here forced Romney to spend a lot of time and money in a state they may have thought was firmly in their pocket just a few weeks ago. Very significant factor.

Also interesting is the changing demographics in the state and what it means for the future. No longer can a candidate just focus their outreach to Latin voters mostly to the Cuban-American vote in South Florida. That vote has become much larger and more diverse statewide--and far more likely to vote Democrat. Florida is still purple, but it is trending blue. The GOP will need to adjust or be left behind (as is the case many other places)

I do think it's ridiculous that we had virtually no lines at some polling places and hours long lines at others. The system certainly needs to be revamped, and we definitely should not ever again have such a long ballot during a national election. I'm happy to say it only took me an hour to drive down to Legions Park, stand in lline, sit down and go thruough that ridiculously long ballot, and then drive back home.

The ballot was ridiculously long. I'm here in Jupiter and helped my mom slog through that mess.

Voted absentee in Pennsylvania over a week ago. Just a few races and four city charter questions (including a big transit initiative that I hope passed).

I don't think judicial posts should be an elected position, either. Much rather see them being a merit-based appointment (even if that's also imperfect). How in the hell do they expect people to make informed decisions in those races?

Obama got 47% of the Cuban-American vote! The Tea Party and general GOP ridiculousness has fast forwarded the Cuban's move to the Democratic party.

Cuban American support for Obama belies community’s image

I was in line for 4 hours. My feet are still sore.

The ballot length is ridiculous. I didn't read all the items and just filled in whatever on a few of them.

BTW, the Crandon Park (#238) item passed.

Romney's biggest detriment was his party affiliation. The conservative mindset is one that is outdated on many issues. Aside from that Romney did himself no favors with the self deportation, medicare credit (voucher) amending, flip flopping, evading abortion questions, not being specific on his plan to lower budget deficit (despite continued tax breaks for rich and increase in military spending), and last but not least his little 47% soundbite. In the end he seemed a bit wishy-washy and enough people saw right through it. Alternatively, Obama seems like the better leader.

Wow! That's a fairly remarkable percentage and I think it signifies a genuine shift that likely will continue. It illustrates the rise of the second and third generation Cuban-American vote, and I think further means we are soon approaching the day when that segment won't even be considered a particular 'bloc' but simply a mixed bag of voters melded into the rest.
