That said, I find those that think there is truly "no difference" to be mentally lazy and more often than not bereft of concrete, workable ideas to accomplish their aims. "None of the above" is an option (and often a tempting one) but it ultimately leads nowhere. |

Romney campaign: We lost Florida Posted Thursday 11/08/12 Marc Caputo The Miami Herald President Obama will win Florida when all votes are counted, judging from the makeup of the ballots still outstanding from heavily Democratic counties. Related Content Poll: Obama got big share of Cuban American vote, won among other Hispanics in Florida Absentee-ballot count finished by Miami-Dade; election chief fends off criticism over delay By Marc Caputo mcaputo@MiamiHerald.com Though votes are still being tallied, President Obama is all but assured a victory in Florida because the lion’s share of the outstanding ballots come from Democratic-heavy counties. Obama leads Republican Mitt Romney by 58,055 votes — or 49.92 percent to 49.22 — but there just aren’t enough votes from Republican areas to allow the challenger to catch up. I'm sad Gary Johnson didn't get more votes. All he really wanted was 5% of the vote. It seems there were plenty of people who were unhappy enough with either party to do that.

I was kind of hoping the counting would be done by the time I had to fly back to Philly. Ah, well. Back in five weeks--maybe by then!

I Didn't support either scum ( nobama nor mittens), because the election is a fraud and a fake.

Major scumbag. Douchebagness of the highest order right there. Someone in the media has to stand in his face and insist why it is "the right thing" to not extend early voting. I mean seriously, what kind of answer is that? What is so right about having everyone stand in line for 4 hours?? When everyone would have preferred to vote early on the second weekend or have less wait time on the day of election.

Rick Scott is next on the chopping block. Florida can do a helluva lot better than him---and NEEDS to!
(and you gotta love Allen West's continuing meltdown. Maybe he can move to Idaho next to enhance his chances) |

That many Cuban Americans voted for Obama???? Well I think that's because the new generation isn't burnt by Castro issues. As it should be really (vote for the best dude whichever of the two it is). What's is troubling for GOP must be like someone said before, it may no linger be considered a bloc to just maintain. And most everyone knows that besides the Cubans, most other Latin Americans are mostly democratic (or just afraid of the old "American mentality" where immigration idealists are at fault. If the young Cubans join the other Latin American counterparts more so....uuuuuu trouble for the GOP indeed.

Florida can be kept from the GOP with almost half of the Cuban-American vote going Democrat, so the whole notion that the sanctions are due to the political sway of Little Havana...is obsolete! Last edited by theEmbarcadero; November 11th, 2012 at 12:14 PM. |

The embargo has been a ludicrously innefective and pointless dinosaur for decades. It's way past time to tell Ros-Lehtinen, Diaz-Balart and the other 16 human being left on the face of the planet (all in Dade County) that still think it serves ANY purpose: Basta Ya. We all know it only continued to exist because of electoral politics and Florida being a swing state. Both parties pandered to it, even if they knew better. Obviously, that dynamic has changed. It's time. And lifting it would also be a boost to Miami's economy. Last edited by spellbound; November 11th, 2012 at 05:04 PM. |

As I have stated before, I gravitate to the right on fiscal issues, but then when they right learnes who liberal I am on social issues...they want to castrate me... And the same goes for the left. The tipping point for me was when Bush wanted to pass immigration reform, and shouted him down with so much hate, that I wanted to puke. For the life of me, I will never understand how the GOP figured they could be so openly hateful, that they could ever expect to with the White House ever again... Clearly, the hate and venom they spewed towards immigrants (Latinos) sealed their fate as a party of hate for generations to come.... |

Well I'm of Cuban descent and voted for Obama just as I did in 2008 up here in Orlando. It was also the first time my younger brother voted & he was confused as hell! Also my younger sis voted for Obama in 2008 but for Romney this time around. She got married to a right winger who was in the Military after the 2008 election and had now turned Conservartive including voting for Rick Scott! Politics can get testy between familiy members!
Anyways if I remember correctly Rick Scott won over Alex Sink by about 66,000 votes which is quite a puny amount for the tens of millions he spent on the election!

Legal latinos have nothing to fear from GOP immigration policy since it's aimed at preventing illegal immigration. Yet, latinos vote for less restriction on illegals. Why? Because blood is thicker than water, that's why. No distinction is made between legal or illegal. It's La Raza that is important. Sad, but true. |

I've experienced some of that division as well. The Cuban part of my family is mostly pretty liberal (especially my stepmom) but when I made that 'Nightline' appearance back in 2000 arguing for Elian's return to his father and embarrassing Alex Penelas on national TV, I had one cousin who was absolutely furious at me over it. We're good now, but it was really frosty for some time after that. |
