Yes, I actually did remember having some trouble.

Back to the buildings in question, although the buildings are both very high quality and beautiful to say the least, they are way over the limit of 4 MB's (at ~18MB's), so I will have to ask you all whether you want to make an exception to earthbuilder's Hotel Angleterre and Annex, to decide whether you want to have it in our city.

Please state your opinion. Majority wins.

nono ask on here, if we need to do it for ALL of the over 4mb files, it'll make MILLIONS, I think we should drop the 4mb limit, make it like a 10mb and EB can see what he can Component together to make it smaller, cause all this will get annoying real soon xD

I understand. However, the limit is exactly there so that our city is at least renderable by every user. (Remember the limit is 4 MBs for a single building). It forces users to be more careful with memory space and to do more with less. Also, If you really wanted to make a really MB heavy project, you could do it by sections and join them up in the city file.

IDK, just putting out some ideas :/

Seeing how fast MB memory space is consumed, I really think we'll have to make some effort to keep the city renderable even at current MB limit, more so if the MB limit was more than twice its current size.

On the other hand, you could just vote to give this building an exception to the rule. All other buildings would have to comply by the current 4 MB per building submission rule.

I vote to make an exception to this building.

To be honest, I'm kinda split between the two Ideas. As, I see the total cut as a good idea, due to the fact, that at some point when someone wants to build a skyscraper, they Can't cause of the rule.
Though on the other hand. The city will, Very fast, be to heavy if the rule is removed.
But then again. A special permision is great aswell. As it will function like in the real world, where larger buildings are accepted or denied by a council. By implying the exception rule, you could deny buildings that are either very tall or large, and doesn't fit in the city..

In the end, I guess I would go with a Correction of CF's Idea. Making it exceptions for special, large and/or fantastic buildings..

that's a better idea EB xDxD anyways, I'd say yus to it, since it might be a major sight of the city, a major tourist magnet xDxD (take it that it is a luxury hotel)

I based my vote on the quality of the building's architecture, the fact that it builds upon the architectural style of the city, as interacts with the street, and the many details that dot it. All of this contributes to the larger MB size, but it is worth it to keep it in my opinion, because it is a very good model.

Also, earthbuilder, I thought that, in order to make up for the acceptance of the building, I might want to propose to put you in charge of the design and construction of a palace in the outskirts of the city. You would ideally incorporate a mix of styles (found in the city) into the structure, although this time following the MB requirements, which means you will have to do more with less. In order for you to be able to make a larger structure, you might want to work with sections, adding wings as you go on. This might take a little planning. Are you up for it?

Great

I'd also like to add that other users would be able to add to the palace under your permission.

You can start choosing its location and designing it right away.

The NUE St. Augustine Monastery file in 3D Warehouse has been updated to correct roads around Hotel Angleterre. please download and replace old file with new one. Some small changes added 250kbs to the file (2.5mb's total now).

A house for the plaza next to the monastery building.

Search "NUE House 2" on Sketchup's 3D Warehouse.

Wonderful detail! Nice to see old buildings in there as well. The combination of old and new makes the city very interesting to look at.

I think maybe CF, we need to sort out the buildings again, cause my version I'm sliding together has a lot of building collisions on it x3

? O.O woot?! What I would do is just upload it as it was in my city so when you downloaded it you could just place theintersection point that comes automatic with the file into the intersection poijt of your sketchup, and then you'd have no problems.

Show me a pic so I can see the problem.

well the problem has gone now....but it's still very patchwork, like that black road and roundabout, then leading to a grey road.

yeah, its just that everyone should make sure to use the same color for their roads and sidewalks as is already in the city. If not, it's just going to look weird. It's a simple as getting the match paint tool and copying the color into the new road.

"NUE House Set"

This time I didn't put in any roads or sidewalks, they will be made when there is a need for them, right now I'm just making a primitive countryside that will hopefully evolve to be a town.
