Nominate your 3 favorite skyscrapers that have never been built for the Unbuilt Cup
In order to find out what skyscraper that has never been built is our favorite one, please all nominate your favorite unbuilt skyscrapers. The most nominated skyscrapers will be lined up in the Unbuilt Cup tournament.
rules: you can nominate up to 3 skyscrapers for this cup. Nominees must have been actual projects at some point, so please don't nominate functional buildings. Feel free to add images to inspire others, but please do not use this thread for discussion. Thanks to jome_omt for suggesting this. Happy nominating! |

Dubai Towers Dubai (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dubai_Towers_Dubai)
my favorite never built project ever, it consists of several towers, hope that is okay for the competition, because only the 4 together make it perfect. ![]() 151 Incheon Tower (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/151_Incheon_Tower) would have been the tallest twin towers ever built. it was simply amazing and pretty much perfect. ![]() Al Burj (http://skyscraperpage.com/diagrams/?buildingID=83988) after the pinnacle was moved and renamed to Al Burj it was the most anticipated project i can remember. I know the project got later renamed and moved again to Nakheel Tower, but i actually liked the location and the design a lot more when it was in the Al Burj state. if this doesn't count, since it is not the final design of the project, count it as Nakheel Tower. ![]() some honorable mentions for others to maybe consider voting: Mubarak Tower, One Dubai, Russia Tower, Seoul Lite, Vegas Crown Last edited by KillerZavatar; November 12th, 2012 at 11:58 PM. |

I'm not sure if we can vote for the incheon tower since it's still may be build with reduced height.
But if we assume it is a neverbuild my votes go for: Russia Tower Nakheel Tower Incheon Tower

the design got resurrected for the Signature Tower in Jakarta and it is even taller and probably even more iconic
so that makes me quite happy it didn't got built the first time around, because then we would probably have not this design for the jakarta one.

1. Eatons - John Maryon, TORONTO | 2,250 ft | 686 m
It was proposed in 1971 at 140 floors, it would have been the world's tallest building till 2008 when the Burj Kalifa topped out. Plans for the tower were cancelled, because building a structure of this height was considered impossible at the time of its planning. Toronto's quest to build super tall was fulfilled 5 years later when the CN Tower went up. ![]() 2. Eatons - College Park, TORONTO | 669 ft | 204 m In 1928, Eaton's announced plans for the largest retail and office complex in the world featuring 5,000,000 square feet (465,000 square metres) of retail space and a 38-storey 1920s era skyscraper. The Great Depression halted construction with only 1 corner of the building or about 10% of the complex completed. I included a photo of what the completed section looks like inside; its an art deco master piece. ![]() ![]() 3. Weston Skyscraper, TORONTO | 1,099 ft | 335 m It was proposed in the 1970s for the outskirts of Toronto on Yonge Street next to the 401 Highway.
