At first when I saw this thread at the side of the page it said: China to build the tallest skyscraper. I said to myself, okay China can do that especially that their on a building frenzy. And then when I opened the thread to see some rendering, I was surprised by the additional phrase 'in 90 days'. I said to myself, Good luck China. Andddd, to see is to believe.

They might build it, but until they gain approval, we have no idea how long it would take to finish.

Looks like China's main hobby, is to build ! build ! and build skyscrapers they don't even need and by doing that it is only creating a big bubble that sooner or later will burst and the consequences will not be pretty at all.

What makes you say the world's most populous country with a rapidly growing urban population doesn't need skyscrapers?

its true there not building out of demand lol look at this building there building it in a random city in the middle of like a forest by the looks of the renders, skyscrapers are supposed to be built when you have no other way but to go up because you cant expand, not to build for fun lol

While the bubble has already popped about a year ago, I still hope this still gets built. It's better to have the world's tallest in China than Dubai.

Yeah, sure...a private company builds skyscrapers just for fun.

And those sentences with "China is building..."... Guys, do you really think there is some committee of the Communist Party that says: "Well, let's build a supertall here and one there...or fuck it make it a megatall!"?
Most of those supertalls are funded by private companies because they think they can make a profit out of it, not because it's their hobby.

Not only the height but the volume is even more impressive :O
Burj Khalifa looks like a stick compared to it.

If it's being built by China, why are they building it in Chicago?

The picture shows it as part of the Chicago skyline, but I guess that must just be to illustrate the scale.
