Madrid's skyline is pretty meagre but I love the density and big city feel you get in pics like the recent one above.

Milan is getting waaay over hyped. Sure there's been alot of construction there in the last 3 or 4 years but it's still a pretty slender skyline. I prefer Vienna and The Hague for example.

Istanbul is massive and impressive ..

Paris is beautiful and again very impressive..

Moscow's cluster has that 'wow' factor in a big way , it's just a shame there's so many dull commie buildings surrounding it..

London has the wow factor in shots where both clusters are involved and look close together..

Frankfurt's skyline could be a Fritz Lang futuristic thing.. very impressive in most shots .

Rotterdam has a much better skyline than Amsterdam when you'd think it would be the other way around.

Overall Europe is looking good .

FRANKFURT

Funny that the tallest structure, the TV Tower, isn't regarded in most skyline shots of Frankfurt, though it makes an impressive impact

The pretent "hype" about Milan is mainly caused by SASH, who's always keen to underline how Rotterdam belongs to a different league, even when a comparison with Rotterdam wasn't even issued. No one says Milan is top league, it's a developing skyline with huge gaps, but some potential and definitely a lot of quality.

It really is a pity that the TV tower is so far away of the main cluster.
Would he stand closer to the skyline, it would give a nice Toronto view.

What's the name of the modernist mid-rise right behind the Westermeijer house? I love that kind of architecture

I would love to see updated pictures from street level view, like the ones I made in July 2012.

You gotta be kidding? It's an awful building. It's called 'Wijnhaeve'.

Well, what I can tell you for now is that Torre Dritto in City Life is already visible from Parco Sempione, the most crowded park in the core of Milan. From Sempione you can also see the Porta Nuova towers.

Yesterday's news is that Dritto is now visible from Piazza Duomo, despite being far from t/o. I don't have a picture unfortunately, but here's a map. Parco Sempione is also on the red line.

Also, this is how City Life will appear from Via De Gasperi, the north-western gate to Milan. (rendering by skymino)

Also, when you land in Linate you have a clear view on Porta Nuova towers. If you arrive on a shuttle from the Malpensa airport, you pass right next to City Life.
If you arrive by car, you see the skyline quite clearly from the Tangenziale Est.

The city is dense, with an average height of buildings of about 25-30m. So it's true, Milan has to be better than Rotterdam to reach the same prominence.

But there are a lot of vantage points. Apart from the views you get when you arrive by car, train or plane, there are places like Monte Stella, Parco Nord, Collina dei Ciliegi. Not only the Duomo. If you are in the city center, you are basically INSIDE the skyline area. So it's rather difficult to have a complete view on the thing, but there are loads of cool perspectives with a modern tower standing next to an historical church, which also adds quality to the skyline, imho. Everything is "skyline", not only the far away shot.
You raise very valid points. I agree with what you are saying. I just think for now Rotterdam is ahead of Milan. In 2-3 years - maybe even a year - Milan will overtake Rotterdam.
