Then, here is a map for you. It includes all 47 European countries represented in the Council of Europe.

If Yekaterinburg is regarded European, then so is Izmir.

This is not the place to discuss whether Turkey or Russia is in Europe or not, the mods of this section and the administration team get to decide on what can be posted where not forum members.

Seriously please place Turkey in the Asian forum if you think Europe is only Germany and France. At least there are more cities that Istanbul can compete with in Asia. This is my request from the mods as a Turkish member. We are obviously not wanted in the Euro forum and I am tired of watching these useless stormfront-like people to bash on my country. Place us in the Asian forum and please don't even come to visit Turkey because you won't be welcome with such attitude.

@turkish dicussion, you guys are confusing Europe with the European Union and with the European Council, these are three different things.

Most people especially ordinary citizens tend to be more emotional than politicians, so for them Turkey or Russia is of course not a part of "their" Europe, but this shows us also that the Europen idea work's only on paper.

If you're not able to win the hearts of people, you're also not able to win their minds (also in context to the European idea) - and that's also the reason why Russia or Turkey doesn't work for a lot of "people" if you're talking about Europe.

Hey Dear Mods, If Turkey's other cities are not allowed to post European Forum, if we are here just because of istanbul and some other cities which are on the European Continent, please place us in the Asian forum. We are tired of hearing this kind of compliants.

Istanbul has been one of the most important cities for the European culture.

This is a skyline thread, not one for ridiculous discussions.

You are most certainly right! The Council of Europe is for all European countries and the EU is only for the ones that value human rights, democracy along with a stable economy. Turkey and Russia has a lot of problems regarding human rights and freedoms. I am totally with you on that and this is why we had one of the largest riots in Turkey last summer. This is why people are rioting in Ukraine right now. They demand democracy, they demand human rights and eventually they want to be accepted to the "house" by their European brothers. Pushing people away, saying "You are Asssiiiaann outsideeerr" is not gonna help to build the great powerful and peaceful Europe I have in mind. I can't talk for Russia but I want Turkey to be fully integrated with Europe, solve its human rights problems, get divided and let Kurds have their own country, improve its democracy and give much better education to the citizens. Turkey is in Nato. We fight against terrorism together. Over 35 million Europeans visit Turkey each year, mostly from Germany, Norway, the UK, France and the Netherlands. Millions of the EU citizen live in Turkey and thousands of EU students study in Turkish universities with ERASMUS. Most famous European authors, scientists, composers are Russian. Do I even need to say more?
