Guns N Roses concert: Mumbai, Gurgaon, Bangalore (December 7th)
In all probability, his biggest and most memorable moment would be the Guns N’ Roses concert that Alok Sharma, director; Mooz Entertainment is bringing to Bengaluru on December 7. Alok quit his position as Apple India’s MD after a five-year stint to pursue his entrepreneurship dreams outside the firm.
With the city that’s big on metal, and the fastest-emerging economy, the entertainment world at large was what tempted the Mooz makers to look at some of the biggest names in sports and music. Alok who shuttles between Delhi and Mumbai and is based out of Bengaluru, says, “The Guns N’ Roses concert will be held at Bhartiya City. They are arguably one of the most popular rock bands in the world, and this is their first performance in India.” Source: http://www.deccanchronicle.com/tablo...-spellbind-356 Last edited by dino_srk; November 23rd, 2012 at 01:15 PM. |

Kryz Reid Concert: Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore (November 29th)
The guys with the Semi Charmed Life make no bones about admitting that they can’t wait to experience the music scene, of which the legendary Freddie Mercury was a product. Billboard-topping, American rock outfit — Third Eye Blind, as revealed by Kryz Reid, the guitarist, has been waiting for years to tour the sub-continent, and now that the day dawns closer for their Bengaluru concert, the excitement is palpable. He talks to us about the band’s constantly-evolving music and, of course, their fascination with all things Indian.
With an endearing Namaskar in place, the musician divulges that as the band is currently working on its next album, India was a little gift to recharge their batteries, go somewhere beautiful, play a bunch of shows, meet amazing people, and then get back to the studio in San Francisco. About their set for the Bengaluru concert, he says, “We were thinking we’d play a bunch of new songs off our next album for the first time live in India, and then follow that up with a mix of tracks from the last four albums. It’s our first time touring in India, so we want to make it really special for the fans over there.” He adds, “Freddie Mercury was a product of the Indian music scene, so I’m excited to get a sense of that kind of cross-pollination. Electronic Dance Music heavyweight Swedish House Mafia (SHM) is set to return to Mumbai in January 2013 as part of its final world tour titled ‘One Last Tour’. As a surprise addition to its fans, the trio will also visit Bangalore for a performance in January.
![]() ![]() Earlier, the mumbai gig was cancelled due to the sad demise of Shiv Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray on 17 November in the city. Clearing speculations on the concert, the organizers have announced the show dates as 20 January in Bangalore and 22 January in Mumbai. Swedish House Mafia tweeted, “India. We return. Bengaluru 20th Jan. Mumbai 22 Jan. All info on swapping your wristbands is on our facebook or on Submerge's sites.” Initially, the Swedish DJ trio was scheduled to play on 17 November in Mumbai and 18 November in Delhi. Though the Delhi gig was on schedule and received a massive response, music aficionados in the city will have to wait until they can meet their favourite EDM DJs. The band comprising of three House DJs and producers - Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso announced their break-up on 24 June 2012. Commencing from16 November at Dubai, the band performed in Delhi as part of Sunburn Arena. India will be the first leg of SHM's world tour which will also cover South Africa and Russia for the first time. The tour will hit North America from February 2013 where the band will again play at New York's Madison Square Garden as well as a night at the Barclay Center Source: http://www.radioandmusic.com/content...e-january-2013 |

India Music Week : Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore (21-25 Nov)
A music festival opening on Wednesday promises to leave aficionados spoilt for choice. Held between November 21 and 25, the India Music Week’s Bangalore edition packs in 20 concerts in five days: the busier days have typically five or six concerts at different venues across the city.
Headlining the festival is the Pakistani pop/rock band Strings, which will inaugurate the festival on Wednesday at E Zone. There will also be a performance by Indian rock veterans Parikrama. “India is like home now,” Bilal Maqsood, singer and guitarist of Strings, said. “We’ve done 20 to 25 shows in Bangalore already,” Maqsood said. This edition of India Music Week, the second, is missing Amit Saigal, often called Papa Rock for mentoring Indian rock ’n’ roll: Saigal passed away early this year. The festival is being held simultaneously across Delhi/Gurgaon, Mumbai, and Bangalore. Focus on SAARC region There is also a focus on the SAARC region, said Anirban Chakraborty, festival director and from the magazine “Rock Street Journal”. Acts from Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka will also be performing. Through a collaboration with the Norway Embassy’s music wing — Rikskonsertene — there are also Norwegian bands Casa Murilo and Lemaitre. “We have had a musical collaboration with India for the past 10 years,” said Solveig Korum Manga, Rikskonsertene representative. There’s plenty of local flavour, as well, with Bangalore acts Thermal And A Quarter, Galeej Gurus, The Bicycle Days and Swarathma. The venues will include clubs and restaurants such as CounterCulture, BFlat and E Zone. Strings and Parikrama perform Wednesday at E-Zone, Marathahalli. Tickets for all events can be purchased at www.kyazoonga.com. For a complete schedule, visit www.indiamusicweek.com. Source: http://www.thehindu.com/news/cities/...cle4116513.ece |

Sunday Soul Sante is back
Sunday Soul Sante's Christmas Bazaar 1 month from now on the 23rd of December @ Temple Tree in Sahakarnagar, Hebbal !!!
If you are a shopaholic it’s confession time, for the Sunday Soul Sante is once again here to spoil you with choices. The Sante, which is now an integral part of our city’s lifestyle and culture, is a canvas for creativity. “Artists and designers from across the country together for this event and it’s for Bangaloreans to make the most of it. Basically the Sante is all about moving away from mall culture. All the products here are one of its kind. You must check out designer Runa Ray’s collection. Meghana Khanna’s line of jewellery will also leave you impressed. And don’t miss out on artist Prasad Bhat’s caricatures either,” says Asha Rao who conceptualised and organises the Sante. ![]() This time too you can take your pick from over 200 stalls. “The idea is to create a common platform for artistic people to come together to showcase their talent be it in arts, crafts, music or food. We also have an activity centre for kids. This year’s theme is Christmas,” adds Asha. Apart from an activity centre, the Sante will include a food court and a talent scouting stage. “Young and popular DJs will be roped in to perform at the venue. Clement and Rohan Kapoor will be among those performing this year,” says Asha. A fashion show by Prasad Bidapa is the other highlight. ![]() The sante this time will be held at Temple Tree, Sahakarnagar, Hebbal. Does this change in venue bother Asha given that every other Sante saw Palace Grounds playing host to the event? “With a new venue comes new ideas. Temple Tree is also a beautiful place. And as long as we firmly believe in what we are doing there is nothing to worry about,” she reasons. The entry fee to the Sante is Rs49. For elder citizens and children below 10 years of age the entry is free. A breast feeding and nappy changing station has also been arranged. Sante is now pet friendly too. www.sundaysoulsante.com/ |

Skyharbor, Parvaaz to Headline Strawberry Fields 2012
Indian metal band Skyharbor (pictured) will headline the annual National Law School, Bangalore, college rock festival Strawberry Fields, this year. The festival will also be co-headlined by Bangalore psychedelic/blues band Parvaaz. Strawberry Fields has become an important fixture in the Indian rock scene, having been in existence for 15 years now. The upcoming concert will be edition 16 of the festival and will see it move from its regular location, NLS, to the Palace Grounds in Bangalore.
Palace Grounds are known to most people for having hosted some of the biggest concerts in India such as Cradle Of Filth, Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Backstreet Boys, The Prodigy and most recently, French EDM producer and DJ David Guetta. The legendary venue was going to close its doors to rock and pop performances (according to this news report) and this was rumored to affect the Bangalore music scene adversely, displacing scenesters and promoters in much the same way as iconic Mumbai music venue Rang Bhavan’s shutting down did to the Mumbai scene. A lot of alternatives did pop (read about a few here) and gigs across the city were shifted to different locations. Strawberry Fields will now be the first rock/metal performance that is taking place at the venue since the clampdown, and will commence from November 30 and go on till December 2, this year.Palace Grounds Rocks Again ![]() ![]()

Heineken Green Room (Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore)
The second edition of Heineken Green Room will see the secretive electro-disco duo travel to New Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.
Tour Dates Nov 30 – LAP, New Delhi Dec 01 – F, Mumbai Dec 02 – KSLTA, Bangalore The first edition of the Heineken Green Room took place earlier this year with American IDM DJ Mux Mool making his way across the three cities in India. This time around, the Dutch beer company will bring down the secretive disco-funk duo Tiger & Woods. While the Heineken Green Room is supposed to be an invite-only event that takes place in a non-traditional venue, the Indian edition is a bit more straight-forward with all the shows taking place in nightclubs and bars. The Green Room is also turning into an event that showcases some of the fringe sub-genres of the larger EDM scene. Source: http://nh7.in/indiecision/2012/11/27...ken-green-room |

![]() Bangalore was also the first city in India where internationally popular rock groups Iron Maiden, The Rolling Stones, Bryan Adams, Scorpions, Sting, Aerosmith, Elton John, Deep Purple, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeath among various other heavy metal groups performed live for the first time in India. Neither Mumbai nor Delhi have hosted all of them....Few of them yes.. but not all.. |

Electrifying performances
The stage was set, the atmosphere was electrifying and the audience was enthusiastic. When the performers took the stage, there was no stopping. Artists like Priyanka Blah, Bruce Lee Mani, Vasu Dixit and Akshai Sarin ensured that this Friday night was one to remember. Party peeps gathered to watch them perform at the inauguration of the first installment of its All Star Jamm in Bangalore.
The event, which took place at a Jack & Jones, Vera Moda and Only showroom ,saw an eclectic mix of guests come in and enjoy the evening. We spotted sisters Dia and Anisha Bhandary having a good time at the do while Sheetal Sharma looked stunning in a black number. Namrata Sudhindra and DJ Vachan too were seen enjoying themselves and discussing music at the event.Source: http://epaper.timesofindia.com/Defau...ue&Skin=TOINEW |

PASSING THROUGH
After 22 years and 3,000 shows, it has indeed been a long journey for Parikrama, one of India’s oldest rock bands. Subir Malik, who manages the band and is an accomplished keyboard player, says that the band is always thrilled to play in Bangalore. In fact, their most recent visit to the city was to start off a nation-wide music project. “We kickstarted it from Bangalore because classic rock is very big here. The crowd is very educated in music. They know and understand all the songs we play and that makes all the difference. Numerous international bands prefer performing in Bangalore for the very same reason,” says Subir.
The band has also come up with a concept — Parikrama and Friends, by which different artists perform with the band at concerts. “Parikrama and Friends was something we came up with on our 18th birthday. We were going to do a show and suddenly the idea to do something different came along. So we decided to make the singers do covers of songs by famous rock artists and convinced them to do something that’s not their forte,” explains Subir. Talking about the growth of rock music in India, Subir adds, “Rock music in India has grown amazingly. The number of shows we have done in 22 years says it all. If you remember, the 1990s wasn’t the internet era, but now, you can upload your music on video-sharing sites and the world over people can watch them. Back then, if we were playing in Koramangla, a person in another part of Bangalore did not know we were playing there or even that we existed. Hence, due to the lack of effective communication channels, our only way of moving forward was by doing shows, thereby increasing our fan base.” Source: http://epaper.timesofindia.com/Defau.../05&Enter=true |
