have a look at Bernie's posts in Iloilo Thread. It's an aerial view of Nabitasan development project. It's too early to guess whether the development is commercial, CBD or residential.

Well, they said that by first quarter of this year, we will know who will be the ones who will buy the airport lot.

But got this from an insider in Landbank, Ayalas are VERY interested in purchasing it. Although no confirmation yet but it seems this is a nice potential.

they should be since, correct me if im wrong, they have no really property to develop in Iloilo and the booming of business these past few years and the opening of the new airport would surely be a magnet for all developers.

They say that the previous PECO site in Calle Real is owned by Ayalas. But really, I don't think they have a property to develop in Iloilo at present.

I also go for Ayala. I know Lopezes came from Iloilo but seeing that they invest more outside their hometown still gives a perception that they MAY not be focusing their efforts in Iloilo. Hopefully some of them (who are left) whould be active in the Ilonggo society.

We shouldm wait for few more days to determine who will be the potential investor(s) who will buy the old aiport property.

Just wait and see kasimanwas! We may be into surprise but as what I've heard from a friend of my father that Ayalas are very keen in that Iloilo Aiport lot acquisition. But nevertheless, the more investors, the merrier!

There's still a lot of open spaces to be developed in the city (not downtown of course, its already congested) and its environs. We don't need to reclaim land yet from the sea (since Iloilo City itself is reclaimed land) since we still have options to expand outward.

As for the old lady in Mandurriao, only a few months and she'll retire.

Nope. Ayala Center and CBD is located in a former golf course kuno but the IT Park and Waterfront Hotel is the place where Lahug Airport was.

Here is a major update regarding the Mandurriao Airport

Govt to get at least P500M for old Iloilo airport
03/01/2007 | 04:13 PM

The government on Thursday announced it would bid out the 54-hectare airport in Mandurriao, Iloilo on April 24, and said it would be expecting P500 million to P2 billion for the old airport.

The Department of Finance on Thursday issued an invitation to prospective bidders to get the terms of reference and bid package for the airport, from the Bids and Awards Committee.

The committee is set to conduct a pre-bid conference in Iloilo City on March 13 and another one in Manila on March 15 to entertain queries from interested investors.
Prospective bidders would be given until March 27 to submit pre-qualified documents. Eligible bidders would then be notified on April 3.

The Iloilo airport will be bid out on April 24.

Part of the sale proceeds would be used to pay a P6.2 billion loan from Japan Bank for International Cooperation, which was used to finance the construction of the new Iloilo International Airport in the Sta. Barbara – Cabanatuan area.

The proceeds will also be used to fund the construction of a first class highway interconnecting the provinces of Iloilo , Capiz, Antique and Aklan.

The government hopes to raise around P27 billion from the privatization of big-ticket assets this year. -GMANews.TV
